Love this place. I use to be scared of the dentist but the doctor and assistants are nice and take care of you.
I hate leaving poor reviews, but I felt this one somewhat helpful.I just moved to Ames and wanted a dentist close to work, and after reading reviews I figured I'd give Campustown a try. The location is fine, the people are nice, the building and office leaves a bit to be desired but overall not awful. What I didn't understand was that at least two of the patient chairs do not have dividers between them, so there doesn't feel like there is much privacy (other than the probably 15-18 foot distance between chairs and angles of the chairs that keep patients from being in direct line of sight). You can hear the front desk and waiting room area from at least one of the patient chairs. It just wasn't very comfortable, and it's hard to make me uncomfortable. Not a dealbreaker here yet. Moving on.What was a dealbreaker was the rest of the visit. X-rays went fine, but I felt moderately berated during gum measurements, saying if I don't keep my teeth clean and do a bit better I "could be at risk of losing teeth" based on my gum pocket measurements that were a bit too deep. Yet, during the cleaning there was very little scraping going on except for one or two teeth. The polishing was the quickest polishing I've ever experienced. I didn't feel like my teeth were polished well at all. Then, it was recommended that I get three fillings. I was looking at the x-rays (asked to see them.. they don't just show them, seemingly) and they looked virtually unchanged from the last x-rays I had on record. I explained that they looked unchanged from my last set (that they didn't have on record), but they really recommended the fillings. They also prescribed prescription toothpaste that they seemed very interested in me buying right from the office for $30 something. As I was leaving and at the desk, I said I would probably have to call to schedule the fillings to work around my work schedule, and the person who did the cleaning called out from many feet away that I shouldn't wait too long, because I really don't want the cavities to get worse (mind you, the waiting area is in earshot of this). You have to pre-pay for fillings, which I also thought was odd (estimated cost after insurance).Overall, it was an uncomfortable experience, and it felt half way shady to me and I definitely felt pressured at times. I went to another dentist the following week for a second opinion, and they really didn't understand the prescription toothpaste and they said none of the three teeth needed fillings and only put a "hard watch" on one of the areas, especially considering my teeth hygiene behaviors.Take from this what you will. Again, the people are "nice" enough, but it was my least favorite dentist experience of my life.
Dr. Brown has always provided quality work for me, definitely recommend him.
Friendly, helpful and fast service.Great place for dental care.
Staff very friendly and helpful to me. Listened to my concerns and continued to be throughout my repair of tooth.
Dr Metzger moved to this dental office from macfarland clinic. I wrongly assumed that they took my insurance (hawk-I), and they did not tell me any different, so now I'm stuck paying $374 out of pocket. On top of that, we did not get to see Dr Metzger, and were assigned a dentist we haven't ever seen. They also lack free parking nearby the office. Three strikes in one visit. Do not recommend
I miss my regular folks. But these profesdionals were 👍great
I had a pleasant experience at Campus Dental this morning. Everyone was friendly and professional and I will certainly return in 6 months for my next exam.
The place is neat and clean. Staff was very pleasant. My hygienist, Brooke, was very friendly. We seem to share a love of movies. The work was done efficiently and without pain, which is important to me. The dentist, Dr. McPherson, was very pleasant, too. All in all, a good checkup!
Great! Courteous and professional.
