There are a lot of negative reviews based on things that you will experience at any college. Yes, parking is hard. Is it more difficult than other schools? Probably. Is it a problem all colleges have? Absolutely.
CSUF is tucked into a suburban neighborhood, making expansion difficult. Our current President, however, truly cares about this campus and its students. Past presidents didn't care, so he has a lot of cleaning up to do, and he's done a lot in his first two years already.
I graduated with a BS in Biological Science. I had exceptional professors, who genuinely cared about their students. Friends who went to UCs hardly had contact with their professors in their 300+ person lectures. I have personal relationships with many of my professors, who were extremely understanding when personal issues came up.
I found plenty of programs to take part in. Another reason many reviews are negative is commuter students don't try to get involved. ASI offers a ton of events, there are over 200 student orgs, and you can fairly easily start your own club (I did).
Your college experience is what you put into it. If you try, CSUF will provide you a good education, helpful professors, opportunities for growth, and more. The only thing we lack is sports teams lol but our baseball and basketball teams are pretty good and the games are fun with friends!
