Such a sweet and amazing doctor! He delivered my first born son and it was such an amazing experience! He was so professional and nice and made sure I had great pain medicine after my delivery. Truly made my birth experience amazing! I will always choose Doctor Moniak as my Obgyn in the future! 💙
I was happy Dr Moniak took my insurance A few years ago. I saw him once and thought he was nice and helped with my general questions and tests. I was having a personal problem and the nurse in the examining room followed up and gave me a print out of who to call to discuss my situation. The three numbers she gave were not what I needed. The first number answered and asked if I was incarcerated in the last 24 hours. These were wrong numbers and if it Had been alifethreatening Situation they should follow up and give information that is correct to their patients. After that I never saw Dr Moniak. Every time I went in for a check up it was his doctor in practice. Every time I got a test result I was called from the front desk representative. Every time I ask a question she would have to put me on hold and ask. Also when I called for an appointment with Hoag they was missing information and I had to go drive back to the doctors office and pick it up from Dr Moniak's office. I don't think they take the time to help their patients as much as they should. Two weeks waiting for a call back on a second breast exam is a little nerveracking.
Really great doctor helped me deliver by c-section my baby girl. Everything turned out great. Would highly recommend, for my next pregnancy definitely going to him again!

Had an awful experience with the front desk representative. Currently around 5 weeks pregnant and having light bleeding. I called concerned that I may be having a miscarriage and the front desk representative told me to call Hoag hospital because they couldn't help me.<br><br>Dr. Moniak delivered my first child, and also saw me when I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. Today, when I called in concerned, I was told that they were too busy and to call Hoag hospital. She didn't even give me a number or department to call at Hoag. She didn't tell me what to look out for, she didn't ask me any questions about my symptoms, nothing! I'm disappointed in the lack of support and care that this person showed.
Currently my obgyn and couldn't be happier!! Great staff, great atmosphere, great location.
I had an emergency delivery with Dr.Moniak 2 years ago, being urgently transferred from Birthing Center. Great doctor, amazing experience with my first delivery. Even though I live farther away now I will only work with Dr.Moniak with my 2nd pregnancy. So exciting!

Well overdue review. <br><br>I gave birth in July 2019.<br>I have been needing to write this review for a very long time. <br><br>He is very caring and took all my questions seriously and answered them so descriptively.<br>He also answered the questions my husband had for him and helped him feel comfortable as well.<br><br>He told me the date I would be due and was spot on. Exactly the day he said. The day I went in to the hospital I called the office and let them know I was going into labor. He met me at the hospital that morning and it was sooo quick and easy. He asked me if some of the students he was teaching could come and watch. I was more than happy to have them come and learn. He made my delivery easy he told me when to push and what I would be feeling. I felt very comfortable with him and appreciate the heads up on every move he made. 7 pushes and the baby was out. He let my husband cut the cord. Then after I got to hold my bundle of joy.<br><br>After I experienced pre eclampsia. He noticed it right away when he looked at me which tells me he is extremely observant of what I should normally look like and feel like. He treated me and made sure I was getting the proper medication a few hours after delivery. <br><br>He also did the circumcision a day later while i was still in the hospital recovering. The circumcision was perfect and my son is healed and there is nothing wrong. No infection. Was a perfect circumcision. <br><br>The ladies in the office were so friendly and helpful everytime I came in. They remembered my name and made me feel comfortable as well. <br><br>Absolutely a 10/10 <br><br>Thanks again Dr. Moniak
First time with Dr.Moniak. My wait time was approximately 1015 minutes. Office staff was really friendly and professional. I had an ultrasound which went well. I was happy with the way they took care of me. I finally met Dr.Moniak which I forgot to mention was a referral through a friend. I was not disappointed he was very informative, friendly yet professional. I'm excited for him to deliver my baby.
Dr. Moniak was my OB during my 3rd pregnancy. I was only sent to do blood work twice and never given any results. I was never ordered to do glucose testing either. I saw him MAYBE twice throughout my entire pregnancyalmost every visit was with Rachel the nurse. I DID See him running out of his office to get to Hoag across the street a few times to deliver babies which did make me feel confident that he'd be there when my time came...my experience with him during my babies delivery was awful to say the least. I knew what I was doing as I'd had 2 babies previouslyyet every time my babies head started coming out it would go back in when I stopped pushinghe told me I wasn't doing my part and that this was gonna take as long as I made it take...soon my baby started going into Distress and come to find out her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck like a noose. So the entire time that I was being made to feel like I wasn't trying hard enough and sat there listening to him chat about who was or wasn't working that day etc there was actually an issue beyond my control that needed to be addressed. Baby ended up coming out fine no thanks to him...or his lack of compassion or bedside manner. Good thing the epidural made me numb. While he was stitching me up I accidentally did a long whistle sounding fart right in his face that I wasn't able to stop. That's what he gets!
I was under Dr. Moniak's care from November to February; my first impression can be summed up as "efficient". Appointments were on time or I never had to wait longer than 510 minutes, and I could get through on the phone line whenever I had questions (unlike my OB's office for prior pregnancies). However, I didn't feel the same care and compassion from Dr. Moniak as I did my from my prior OB, nor was I ever told or given material/information about blood work, hospital registration, cord blood banking, ultrasound frequency, or glucose tests to be expected during pregnancy which I received outlined from my prior OB. For this reason, I felt he was acceptable for my third pregnancy since I knew what to expect and therefore what questions to ask but I would have never chosen him as my doctor for my first pregnancy. (My insurance plan had changed and is why I changed OBs.)<br><br>In addition, I had to advocate for myself for testing for my baby given my miscarriage history. Following Dr. Moniak and his staff's instruction, I spoke to a given contact at Natera to discuss my NIPT test results and I spoke to someone at Magella Medical Group and both advised what testing I needed to do but when I called Dr. Moniak's office, they kept kicking me back to Natera and Magella. I couldn't believe that I had to ask the front desk, "If you don't do the recommended testing, and you're my OB office, then where am I supposed to go get testing done at??" Finally, the staff at Magella took pity on me and called Dr. Moniak's office to request a referral for the testing I needed. Had I not advocated for myself to get the testing done, I would have missed the window of opportunity for a CVS test. I asked the front desk if it was normal that I had to advocate for myself why they didn't provide a referral to begin with instead of directing me to Natera and Magella over and over and the person said it wasn't normal for them to do the testing I needed so early.<br><br>Finally, at my 20 week ultrasound, I simply asked Dr. Moniak who his backup doctors are in the case that he is unavailable for my delivery and it immediately became apparent that I touched a nerve because he reacted in a distressed manner. I did not ask the question with any malice. I do not expect him to guarantee he'll be at my delivery. I just wanted to know who the potential backup doctors are so I could research them in advance to determine if I'm okay with the possible backups. He immediately reacted defensively, telling me that he works "sooooo" hard to be there for his patients and that he could give me a list of twenty doctors that could potentially be his backup and that the one who helps as a backup may not even help him again for another five years. He also provided the number of patients he had last year that knew whether he or the backup was going to deliver their baby and compared it to the number of patients of other doctors.....which did not make me feel any better and in fact made me think he was overworked (maybe that's why I had to advocate for the additional testing I needed myself).<br><br>I don't doubt that he tries to be there for all his patients, but he's human and only one person. His defensive reaction raised red flags and alarms for me. I changed doctors immediately.
I was so upset after speaking with this Dr. He is entirely uneducated on infectious diseases. I advise you to seek a different gyno. A very unprofessional Dr
I'm so grateful for Dr. Moniak, Rachel the nurse practitioner and all of the staff in the office. Everyone has been so kind, helpful and pleasant. I just had by second baby in November and the overall experience has been fantastic and stress free. <br>Most of the visits were with Rachel the nurse practitioner and she is so informative and takes her time to listen to what's going on. Is never once felt like it was a rushed visit.<br>I had a pleasant and fast delivery with Dr. Moniak. I literally pushed two times and my healthy baby boy was out. He gave such good guidance that I didn't need any stitches and healed up nice and quick.<br>If you are looking for a obgyn office with friendly staff and a wonderful doctor, then I highly recommend Dr. Moniak and his team.

I've had two visits at this location, I'll be sad to switch insurances and lose the NP Rachael Duran. The NP and nurse are very pleasant and answer any questions you have. Usual wait time is 30 minutes so pretty good compared to other doctors. Only complaint is they say they'll call with test results but you usually have to call them to find the results out.
I had an extremely traumatic birth with my first baby with man. I had never met him before, he was the backup Dr for the midwifery where had I planned to give birth. At 39.5 weeks we found out my baby was growth restricted so I was sent to Dr Moniak to be induced.<br>He was rude, condescending, and very rough with my body.<br>After several hours on pitocin things suddenly started moving very quickly and he showed up just after I had started pushing. As he walked in the room we overheard him talking to somebody else on his cell phone and telling them "I'll be there in a few minutes."<br> He immediately had the nurses strap me on my back, even though I did not have an epidural and could move around. Without even asking or explaining, he immediately picked up scissors to give me an episiotomy. When my doula objected, he was very brusque with her. He shoved both hands into the birth canal and grabbed the baby's head. No explanation/apology/questions. No communication at all. I had severe internal tearing, plus the episiotomy (which was more than likely not necessary), and I felt ALL OF IT because I had no anesthesia. And he would not turn off the pitocin. I was in excruciating pain and he was acting like he was annoyed with me. He rushed my birth, pressuring me to push even when I wasn't contracting (which did irreversible damage to my body) when I had only just started pushing and there was no medical reason for me to hurry and push the baby out, or if there was, I was never informed and it was not documented.<br> After the baby was born he immediately started yanking on the umbilical cord. When asked by my husband if we couldn't just let the placenta come out on its own he snidely responded "Why don't you leave the medical decisions to me??". When I asked about anesthesia while he was stitching me up, because I could feel the needle, his response was outright hostile. He rolled his eyes and told me he had used a topical anesthetic but I would still be able to feel "pressure" and as he said this he roughly jabbed my pelvic area with his finger several times to illustrate his point. after all that trauma, all the tearing, cutting, and stitches, without warning he started violently ramming his hand in my vagina. Repeatedly. Like somebody digging for change in a sofa. IT WAS SO PAINFUL. He never offered an explanation, or apology. We had no idea what was happening until we noticed the nurses were searching the floor and looking under everything, talking about a missing sponge. They never found it. He never acknowledged it. Never addressed me unless asked a question, and then the response was rude/impatient/hostile. He never treated me like a person. <br>After a very long, painful recovery I discovered (too late) he had sewn me up too far. Because of all the trauma, and being sewn too tight, it took almost a year before I could be intimate with my husband again without crying. I suffered from severe post partum depression. It took me almost 5 years to have another baby because I was so traumatized from the first birth. And because of the damage done, I tore badly with my second birth (inside and out).
Great doctor and great staff. I had surgery and several other services done with them, and all went smooth and easy. Highly recommended.
Dr. Moniak is a great doctor! He's quick and to the point kind of doc. Every time he uses the doppler he finds the baby right away. He's not going to shoot the breeze with you, but definitely will take care of you. He takes great care of my wife. The nurses and office girls are just as awesome. They know everyone's name. Rachel the NP is equally as great, she very attentive.
