I had a terrible experience at Girard after a fall on ice. Most of the nurses were wonderful but it only takes one really bad Doctor, nurse, or assistant to make the experience bad. My surgery had to be done over and I did 6 weeks of rehab on a still broken leg.Dr, Yost "tried" to repair my comminuted fracture with a rod and 9 brads instead of replacement. As an x-ray tech I thought this was a mistake...He and staff at Girard (Jody an RN who should lose her license), thought I was faking not being able to walk. Wouldn't even refer me to inpatient rehab. NEVER RE X-RAYED MY FEMUR!!!! I had minimal inadequate PT at Girard hospital. Mercy Home health refused to treat me and said I should have never been sent home. Could not ambulate at all..After 3 weeks later at a rehab center it was discovered his repair totally failed and bones collapsed with femur poking into my sacrum.... Had to have total hip replacement with reinforcement where brads were placed weakening my femur. Total non union repair. Dr. in KC could not understand how I tolerated the pain that long. I had told Dr. Yost many times about pain in my sacrum...STILL NO RE-X-RAY....JUST HORRIBLE...GIRARD HOSPITAL....JODY THE CHARGE NURSE AND DR. YOST....TOOK ME OVER 1 YEAR TO RECOVER FROM THEIR HORRIBLE NEGLECT and LACK OF FOLLOW UP CARE...
I’ve always had positive experiences at this hospital. Of the options in my area, Girard Medical will always be my first choice for myself and loved ones.
My mom was in the behavioral unit of this facility and was yelled at up in the face from these nurses and med doctors that were there to help get her meds straightened out and not only that she was on the phone with my father and he heard them yelling at her she has early onset dementia and this is the one of care her money paid she is not the only one this happened to either.
Excellent care and great people!
I'm not sure when Kevin went but I'm sure it wasn't to the E.R. in the middle of the night. Don't expect to see actual doctors here. You'll be lucky to land a N.P. Also, the higher up the person is you see, the more rudely you'll be treated, on average. Also, Medicare fraud is practiced here...just FYI...
