My husband had back surgery. He was experiencing severe pain; medicines did not help at all. To be sure that he was all right, I took him to the ER at this hospital. We were there for several hours. An x-ray was taken. We were told that the x-ray was all right; sent home with a little different combination of the same pain med. The dismissal report said he was in stable condition. Still no relief for my husband---or for me being unable to help. Ten days later, because I called the surgeon's office and requested the x-ray be retrieved---we discovered that the x-ray showed an acute anterior wedge compression fracture with loss of 30% of vertebral body height. No wonder my husband was hurting so much! And, because we'd been told the x-rays showed no problem, he had refused a wheelchair. When I learned of this report, of course I got a wheelchair. That was Friday. On Monday an MRI was done; surgeon reviewed the results on Tuesday, another surgery on Wednesday. The paperwork sent to the surgeon's office about the x-ray from the ER was timed over an hour earlier than the dismissal paperwork that we were sent home with. All those days and nights of suffering because of a wrong report. When we let the hospital know about this, we were told that they are "sorry" and that steps are being taken to see that this doesn't happen again. This could have happened to anyone. And if we had not called & had our surgeon look into it, we would've not known that the info we were given was wrong. I don't advise trusting this place!!
