Zero stars for lack of empathy and victim-blamingDr. Lee Ann Gee clearly lacks appropriate training to understand that trauma, especially attachment trauma, and resulting depression and anxiety affect one's worldview and impacts present life functioning. Pretending that the past doesn’t exist doesn’t work because trauma is stored in the brainstem and influences outlook and emotional and behavioral responses and leads to comorbid diagnoses. As a medical specialist, she should have been better informed on the neurological impact of trauma, depression, and anxiety and trauma-senitive, culturally-informed treatment. Dr. Lee Ann Gee is culturally-incompetent and does not understand how one's culture and religious upbringing influences values and behaviors. She does not understand treatment of trauma for individuals from collectivistic backgrounds. For this reason, I strongly do not recommend her for individuals of Alaska Native and Eastern European descent. In fact, she does not care to understand the culture either. Dr. Lee Ann Gee is the only professional with whom I have ever left a session after just starting it. Do not waste your time with Dr. Lee Ann Gee to then be retraumatized by her.
