List of MIchael Valantas's Reviews
I have had no negative interaction with any of the staff. They were absolutely wonderful. His test showed another issue and he referred me to the needed specialist which also handled my situation very outstanding.
DR Valantas is a wonderful doctor. He takes the time to hear the concerns and symptoms of his patients. He’s very hard working and is highly motivated about the health and wellbeing of everyone under his care. His staff are caring and patient. You know you’re in good hands at IMA.
They still have same issues with wait time on phone to speak with a person of 2030 minutes that someone mentioned them having a year+ ago. Any practice that has an issue like this and makes no effort to correct it over the course of a year concerns me greatly. That said he was nice to my handicapped sister and at first appointment seemed competent and efficient. Dr Valantas’s practice being the only one that takes Medicare makes more sense now. They get paid Medicare rates so they can’t afford another person for the phones. I’m grateful when someoneanyone takes Medicare these days but still it is very upsetting when you get hung up on after waiting 30 minutes to speak to a person
Dr. Valantas is the best doctor Ive ever seen. He is very knowledgeable personable and thorough. He is meticulous in his diagnostic process and takes the time to look at every aspect of my presenting problem. I have never rated a doctor with 5 stars but he deserves it. The two star rating must be from disgruntled patients. I give him 5 stars. Ive finally met an outstanding doctor in Anchorage.
The average hold time when you call the office is 1020 mins before you speak with an actual human being. The doctor made it fairly obvious I was being rushed through and didnt have much invested in bedside manner. Also I remembered more than half my procedure because I wasnt well sedated and he didnt want to address this during the uncomfortable procedure. I have since switched doctors.
Having sat down for the frist time in over three years I was pleasantly pleased with the discussions having made a connection with him. We were able to come up with a plan for my advanced and severe Crohns Disease and I am hopeful that this will get me on the track to a better quality of life.
Dr. Valantas has provided exceptional care to me over the past few years. His genuine concern and encouraging me to undergo a colonoscopy based on my symptomsfamily history led to removal of precancerous polyps. I’m grateful for this since I would have waited a few more years to have the test.
Nice enough guy but he didnt impress me with his ability that listen and diagnose a problem. Ignored me and missed my cancer. Not returning.
Not to thrilled that after diagnosing my wife with a condition that lists severe abdominal pain as a symptom that his response when she called the office for something to take the edge off the pain was We do not prescribe pain meds. If youre in pain go to the ER. Thats a pretty pathetic level of care in my opinion. While Im comfortable with the diagnosis he gave my wife Im not at all happy about his apathy towards her current suffering.Id recommend ANY other gastroenterologist.
As a diagnostician hes fine. As for providing CARE for a patient hes pathetic. My wife has been battling severe stomach pains for a month. Once he was finally able to get her an appointment it took another week to get a diagnosis. When she called in severe pain his office advised us that he absolutely does not prescribe pain meds for any patients. Ever. His suggestion go to the ER. If youre not in pain hes fine. Otherwise...go somewhere else.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
