If you need specialty rehabilitation care St. Elias should be your choice.  I was fortunate enough to be under the care of the staff during two periods in the past three months.  Both times the nursing staff was caring , compassionate , and very professional.  The Physical and Occupational therapy staff all have the same goal --to get their patient on the road to recovery.  I am thankful that this hospital is available in Anchorage.  If it were possible to give more than 5 stars they have earned them.  Thank you St. Elias.

Very bad hospital

My brother was a patient here for some time with a brain injury. They not only lied to him about his condition but isolated him from his family and plunked him in front of the tv to die. The staff was horrible and unfriendly. I would never recommend sending a loved one here.

They seem to be taking good care of my Mom so they get four stars but...they keep giving me a hard time about my service dog. Telling me the LAW requires me to have a service dog registration or ID and even when I told them that NO it does NOT REQUIRE registration or an ID as there is no government or state organization that registers service animals.  There IS private organizations that rip off unsuspecting disabled persons by telling they must register their animal and charging them X amount that they don't need to spend nor are they REQUIRED by LAW to spend.  The law states companies may ask TWO things... 1-is the animal a service animal? And 2- what does the animal do for you?  That's it!!! Private companies can have their own rules and regulations regarding service animals but they should not be telling people it's the LAW or it's REQUIRED BY LAW. That's the same as people who tell me I can't carry my dog but that he must be on the floor with a leash and that that is THE LAW!!! Pure RUBBISH!!

St Elias had a part in my wife death. They released her when she was not ready. Instead should have checked in to hospital instead of being released. Something was wrong after she was released but was not aware of what. They did not want to deal with her requests. They were at times very rude and treated her with hidden dislike. I felt this during my daily visits that something was not right on how she was treated. They the staff gave her a prescription for anxiety after several days a nurse discovered this. I am devastated on her treatment at that hell hole.

This is actually -5 stars. My brother has been stuck here for 6 weeks and my family has to call every other day and drive up there once a week to jack everyone up and get the employees to do their jobs. Noone actually cares about the patients. He is almost completely bedridden at this time and depends on the staff for basic needs but is left alone and in need of help constantly. Please don't let your loved ones be subjected to this facility.

my son has been at saint Elias for 6 weeks and I have had nothing but trouble with the staff and nurses if I had to rate it now I would give it a negative 5 stars any  one would be better off anywhere other than here

Great staff.

My dad is currently residing here due to health issues and special care. I've been here for a few days (visiting from California) and I can't say that there is one negative thing about this place. It's very clean and staff are extremely professional. I'm pretty pleased knowing that my father is in good hands especially when I return home. Thank you to all staff members. From the doctors, nurses, concierges, security, and the house keepers. You've all been wonderful.
