List of Surgery Center Of Anchorage's Reviews
Front desk and the pre-op nurses where great and sensitive to why I was there for a certain procedure. The CRNA was great and offered a med for anxiety before going back, but I declined. However, as they started rolling me back the anesthesiologist just came up and pushed a med before I got back there, didn’t ask or tell me what it was but found out it was the anxiety med I didn’t want. PACU was the worst. The nurses were very insensitive and just pushed me out the door I was maybe there 10-15 mins after I woke up crying because of why I had to have my procedure and was asking a very simple question which they all ignored and rushed in, went over my instructions, took out my IV, and told me to get dressed all why I was still crying and processing. Worst recovery experience I have ever had and I’m a nurse myself and have worked in a surgery center so I usually give nurses the benefit of the doubt because I know how busy you can be. I would have never treated a patient in my situation so poorly. I felt like I was just in a assembly line to push out as fast as possible. Would never go here again.
Had a my tube removal performed here and everyone I encountered from start to finish was very pleasant and wonderful. Definitely made it a very easy experience for me.
The lady at the front desk was probably the nicest lady I've ever met, spoke very calmly and softly as she handed me my $4000 medical bill. The nurses were all friendly. The surgery process was fenominal, very quick, New Frontier did the anesthesia. Barely saw the surgeon, I was in and out. However the cost without insurance was $24,000 for only a one hour surgery. Even with my insurance I was lucky to make it out only with $4K of dues. Not including anastesia and surgeon fees. The whole interaction was fine but I just cant get behind that price.
Very professional
I had surgery here on February 10 and was very happy with the whole process. All of the nurses and other healthcare providers I encountered were very kind.
So kind to my wife when she had her surgery today! Very friendly and did a great job getting her up and going. While my wife was still under the affects of anesthesia, she couldn’t stop gushing about how well they took care of her. It made something nice out of a stressful situation!
Three reasons I won't leave a 5 star rating. #1, the billing situation isn't well handled. I got a notice that I was expected to pay $780 up front only the day before surgery which added a lot of unnecessary stress that could've easily been avoided if I was given a sooner heads up. #2, although it may not entirely be their fault, the ball was dropped on communication so many times about whether I was staying the night or not. I called two days in advance to attempt to clear that up but even once I got there, it was still up in the air. #3 I am trans and while I would absolutely say the vast majority of the staff was wonderful about respecting my pronouns and doing their best, there was definitely at least one that aggressively refused to use correct pronouns. All that being said, these problems didn't ruin it for me. Again, most of the staff were kind and wonderful to work with. I never had a problem getting someone to come by when I needed help and they were very attentive and thoughtful. They definitely asked and took seriously my reported pain levels until it was under control and I could comfortably leave. When they had to use my legal name, they were very kind and although I understood already why they had to sometimes, it was comforting to know that if someone went in there without understanding, they would be met with empathy. I would also like to note that despite the miscommunication about staying the night, they did a great job arranging things with my friends so I didn't have to explain or handle very much of that at all and that was greatly appreciated.
I don't usually write long reviews but I believe Surgery Center of Anchorage is out of line and way too aggressive in collecting up front fees. Here is why. I am double covered, so the bill always comes in lower than what is estimated. However, last year I went in to Surgery Center of Anchorage for a procedure, they estimated that I would owe $800.00. I told them that I don't pay for services that have not been performed. So, they allowed me to have a procedure anyways because the procedure was on very short notice less than 12 hours. After about 45 days, I got a bill not for about $800. but for about $400.00. I paid it promptly as I should. At that time, I told myself that I will give Surgery Center of Anchorage another opportunity, but if will ever be again be as aggressive as they are, I will simply go somewhere else. Currently, prior to my procedure, I got a call from a nice lady (I won't mention her name because she is just following what she has been told) stating that I owe them about $1,000.00 as financial responsibility. I told her that with double coverage the price comes in lower and I have paid previously in full. This nice lady insisted that I pay right away everything upfront. I told her that, I don't agree for prepaying for a service that has not been performed. I also told her that instead of focusing on patient well being, it appears to me that I am just a number/dollar sign. I told her that they are being way too aggressive in assuming that I won't pay. Lastly, I told her that myself or anyone else in my family no matter the reason will never have a procedure done at the Surgery Center of Anchorage in the future. So, I rescheduled my procedure and changed to where I am treated like a human being and not like a money making item. If I have to, I will fly out of state, change doctors - It does not matter to me. I simply don't agree with their very aggressive stance on collecting upfront, it seems wrong to me knowing very well that with double coverage there are instances of costs being lowered because of negotiated rates even if they bill the same day. I also have no intentions of not paying a bill either but only it has been ran through insurance companies. As far as I know there should be a dusting of care for patients. Few more things, the financial responsibility payment is not a full payment but an estimate, thus I could see another payment coming invoice. I hope you find a different place get to get your procedure done. Unless, they will take it easy on their prepayment policy. This is standard surgery not special, which is okay, it gets the job done.
Wow... I guess if human beings are used cars this is the place to go. Nancy decided if I didn't pay my full deductible upfront (tomorrow!!! was my scheduled surgery) (which she also didn’t know what the grand total would be) that she would have to ask her manager if I could still be seen after I declined to sign up for their credit card. She actually asked me "what are you willing to put down?" "What are you willing to do?" (BTW I have blue cross PPO) I ENCOURAGE anyone in need of surgery to take you and your surgeon elsewhere. I can only imagine how they treat patients/customers once you do owe them money.
These guys charged me double through automatic payments in error. This has overdrawn my credit card and effected my credit. Shame on you. Guess I'm calling my lawyer on Monday..

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
