For what could have been, what I expected to be, was as pleasant as possible. He and his staff are quite knowledgable! Highly recommended!

Dr. Kaplan is an amazing doctor with a great disposition that I would normally highly recommend. His office staff; however, is why I'm giving this business lower than what should have been 5 stars. There was a problem with my insurance covering a prescription the way it was written and It needed to be resubmitted. Additionally, I hoped to get clarification on how to use a different medication. The doctor or a nurse would have easily understood my concerns and would have been able to confidently and intelligently clear up any confusion on my part. Instead, it took over a week and speaking to 3 people who still haven't resubmitted my prescription. Regarding the other medication's dosage questions; they made comments that made me feel that they were confusing the two prescriptions and were reading and trying to decipher notes on my chart while I was on the line which reduced my confidence level considerably. Under the circumstances, they should have asked the doctor to give me a quick call. Instead, they refused. They stated that it was their job and that if I needed to speak to the doctor I would have to book a follow up appointment. They didn't seem to understand my frustration that I spent a great deal of time speaking to multiple people, not getting call backs, and was not getting anywhere. Unfortunately, no matter how experienced, talented and professional Dr. Kaplan is, not having the proper follow up processes in place with his staff is not a good way to run a medical office. I am fortunate in that the medication I'm taking isn't dangerous so a lack of poor communication is not going to adversely affect me as it might with other more serious patient circumstances. I would highly advise that the doctor make time in his schedule to regularly to call back patients directly that have follow up concerns or have a nurse do this for him as his office staff does not have the experience to do so.

I found him to be as rude and unprofessional as anyone I have ever met in a professional setting. Awful. Rude.

I have never written a review of a doctor before but I must in this case. BEWARE. Dr. Kaplan performed TUEVP surgery on me March 22 and I have been going through living hell since then. Continual urinary urgency, lower abdominal discomfort and many more added symptoms. This was elective surgery and I was never informed that this was a possible outcome. I am much worse after the surgery than before. In addition, Dr. Kaplan does not seem to care about the result of my surgery. He has never called me or taken the initiative to suggest possible solutions. He has a cold, unsympathetic and curse manner. I must add that his staff is very good and helpful.

I recommend against seeing Dr. Kaplan. He is arrogant, rude. He did not respond to my questions about my blood-test results. Worse, he told a disrespectful joke while holding my testicles. James J. in Santa Monica

Had about as good an experience as one could probably have havingspectrometry surgery to remove a large (1/4") kidney stone in ereter. He made me feel very relaxed because of his confidence before they put me to sleep. I am 64. Dr. Kaplan is succinct yet caring. My options were presented to me in a very clear manner. The whole staff is wonderful and couldn't have been more understanding or nicer. This is a touchy area for a male and after the experience I must say it is not worth the worry.I was diagnosed Tuesday, had Covid test and ultrasound that day. Self quarantined for a week and the had the surgery before he had to go out of town.Follow up visits were routine and professionalBTW I felt nothing during the surgery. Only discomfort was having a catheterin me the first night back home.

The office scheduler and physician's assistant did such damage to my psyche that I will be seeking out another urologist for my follow-up appointment. Dr. Kaplan seems nice and capable enough, but he's certainly not worth the aggravation.The office scheduler called me at 2pm when I was already driving to the appointment to push back my 215pm arrival to 245pm as the doctor's surgery was running long. When I arrived at 215pm, she then told me to my face the doctor was expected to be available at 3pm. I was insistent on finding out as I had left my wife at home with our 2 year old and 6 month old baby. We can't enlist a babysitter in the time of covid so I wanted to ensure I wouldn't be gone too long. In reality, the doctor's surgery had just started at 2pm with a 90 minute runtime. There was no chance he'd be available at 3pm. He walked in at 4pm. I was legit angry and let her know on the way out. She responded in a mocking fashion. While waiting for Dr. Kaplan, the physician's assistant performed an examination and declared I would need surgery for 2 hernias, likely 2 surgeries. I was then left to wait another 25 mins for Dr. Kaplan. When I asked him about the hernias, he informed me a treatment plan would not come from his office but he did not anticipate imminent surgery being needed. The fact his physician's assistant felt comfortable suggesting surgery when it was not even their place was disturbing. At least I had not texted my wife and mother in that 25 minutes as I was tempted to do.This is Los Angeles. There are many amazing doctors. As I said, Dr. Kaplan may actually be a capable one. There is however no reason to put up with the damaging people surrounding him.

PLEASE AVOID DR. KAPLAN! I would like to explain further but I contemplate confidentiality issues. However, I wish this review was about a doctor's bedside manner (which is poor and dismissive btw) or lack of providing explanations to patients. Nonetheless, due to my own personal experience as Dr. Kaplan's patient; I do not have confidence in Dr. Kaplan in terms of my medical care. Please find another doctor to address your urology concerns.
