Excellent experience with Dr. Passarella and the staff at BBH Shelby Baptist Medical Center's Digestive Services/GI Lab! Dr. Passarella is very well trained (UAB), widely knowledgeable in current GI techniques, extremely polite, courteous, professional and took great care of my wife who had put off her colonoscopy way past her "due date". He put both me and my wife at ease with the details of the procedure and communicated the outcome (no problems, thank the Lord!) promptly. It is such a pleasure to have such a well-trained, pleasant professional at our facility.Oh, did I mention I am a SBMC physician, have worked at Shelby Baptist for many years, could have chosen to encourage my wife to go anywhere or with any group from here to the Mayo Clinic (which we are personally familiar with) and after careful consideration and research, we chose Dr. Passarella and Shelby Baptist... only my opinion, but since we had not personally met Dr. Passarella or used the Digestive Services/GI Lab at Shelby previously, I can't help but feel you would be treated equally well and have a similar positive experience.CPC Jr MD, MBA

Dr. Passarella performed my first colonoscopy and I must say, Everything went very smoothly. The staff was friendly and professional. I will recommend Dr. Pass to all of my friends.

Dr. Passarella is the most thorough and personable doctor I have seen in a long, long time, and I can't say that I have ever had one call me on the phone until i became his patient. He personally called me the other day to answer my question. That really meant a lot. His staff is so friendly. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a Gastro who is nice and VERY knowledgeable. Those are hard to find.

Very informative, really took his time diagnosing me and addressing my concerns. He is doing his home work, before he does my upper and lower GI. Vey knowledgeable and professional.

I saw Dr. Passarella at his new location at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster. He is very kind and compassionate, and most importantly he's knowledgeable. His office staff has been very friendly and accommodating?. I recommend this physician.

I met Doctor Passarella, when he was doing a "consult" for my Primary care doctor. They had to do this because my previous GI doctor no longer admits people to Shelby Baptist. I was impressed with his pleasant demeanor and his practical nature. He said "I am not going to go crazy on this and order a bunch of test, because I think you just have an infection we can fix with anti-biotics" He was right and am now his patient. Cool Doctor.

Had an appointment for May 20, 2020 at 8:00am was there early to fill out paper work, after filling out all paper work sat waiting for 30 minutes. I was the first patient. At 8:30 other patients came in and were call back before me. When I was call back the shortest exam I had ever had, only interested in doing an endoscopy. Guess I saw the nurse practitioner for 5 minutes and if I was not ready to schedule an endoscopy she was not interested.

Dr.. Passarella is always rushed. He is rude and if you need him after hours, forget it. He is easily annoyed. I thought perhaps my perception of him was wrong until I began talking to many others in the community who have used him and they shared stories as equally as bad. I would never recommend this dr. I would be fearful he would rush through his procedures as he rushes during patient contact. Not enough room to elaborate on what all happened.
