Diversicare Of Bessemer's Online Review Report Card

I am a Northern &have been here 6 + years. I am also a registered nurse with a master's degree. They have always treated me with respect & protected my rights. They have & continue to help me with things I find confusing. As a Northerner I don't like Southern food but the manager has always done everything she can possibly do to provide some dishes that I can eat.The facility was built in 1973 but every day housekeeping dusts, sweeps & mops each room.They have a fantastic Doctor for medical director. They have not hesitated to send me to the hospital each time I needed to go.Actually I give the place 10 stars.I hope this review helps some people gain a better understanding of Diversicare.

I am a travel CNA currently working here. Ive been here over a month now and i couldnt be happier. I think staff does a great job caring for the resident here and residents seem happy. Its really fun here and i am enjoying being part of the team. I would absolutley come back again.

Had no clue as to why or when my grandfather arrived at this establishment. The overall feel of this place is horrific. Questions were not answered. The faculty and staff are extremely rude. You have to get out of character for anything to be done. No phones for patients to receive phone calls. Just deplorable. I pray he makes it out alive.

I love this place it’s awesome my husband is there because he had a severe stroke and has limited abilities the staff and all his nurses and the men who take care of him do a wonderful job he is always clean and never stays in a wet diaper no longer than 5 minutes they take such good care of him just like he was he was a family member if there’s great place for him

THESE PEOPLE DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE AT ALL. MY MOM WAS TRANSFERRED THERE YESTERDAY AND I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET A HOLD OF THE NURSE STAFF TO GIVE ME INFORMATION ON WHAT ROOM SHE IN OR TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE. I CAN’T WITH THESE NURSING HOMES THEY DONT CARE ABOUT ANYONE BUT THEMSELVES. I NEED TO CALL THE STATE ON THAT FACILITY BECAUSE IM HEARING NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT THE PLACE. IM READING THE REVIEWS AND I SEE WHY THEY GAVE LIW RATINGS.

My mother was there less than a week and had no therapy. The lady as supposed to do a Zoom meeting every week and acted like she she didn’t want to do it. I’m glad my is better and out of there this coming Friday!

THEY ARE NOT HELPFUL I HAVE CALLED FOR OVER A WEEK WITH NO RETURN CALL BACK ABOUT MY MOTHER AND DUE TO COVID I AM VERY UPSET WITH HOW THINGS HAVE BEEN HANDLE SINCE SHE ARRIVED THERE I HAVE LEFT SEVERAL MESSAGES WITHOUT ANY RETURN CALL AND I FEEL LIKE THEY DONT TRULY CARE FOR THERE PATIENTS ALSO THEY LIED AND TOLD MY MOM I GAVE THEM PERMISSION TO GIVE HER THE COVID VACCINE WHICH WASNT TRUE THEY DIDNT HAVE MY CORRECT CONTACT INFO TO AS PERMISSION WAS NEVER GIVEN TO HER ALSO THEY STATED 2 PATIENTS ARE COVID POSITIVE AND THEY ARENT CONCERNED WITH THERE PATIENT CARE NOR COMMUINCATING WITH FAMILY AND DONT HAVE A TRUE DESIRE TO DO WHATS IN THE BEST INTREST OF THE PATIENTS JUST AS LONG AS THEY GET PAID I TRULY FEEL THEY DONT CARE ABOUT KEEPING FAMILY UP WITH PATIENT

My mother pass away in this place on Saturday and I did not know she was even in this place. i Need answers.

1.25.2021 My father was placed here for short-term care. The physical therapy department is on point. My dad hasn't walked in over a year and due to the PT at this Diversicare facility, he is able to have the strength to walk again. This is why I gave one star.He did not stay his full term for many reasons. One of the big problems we had was getting in touch with my father. Many of the rooms don't have phones (that's what they told us). Once he got in a room with a phone, the phone is antiquated. There was static in the line , low volume and the phone cord seemed to have a shortage in it. Also, I had to call the nurses' station previous to taking him to treatment at another facility to remind them what time to have him downstairs. It would always take 30 min to an hour to get someone to answer the phone and/or to have them connect me to the correct floor. When you call the facility, the phone rings from 1:25-1:30 seconds and then it automatically hangs up. Therefore, I had to keep calling back to back. I was working from two cell phones. The photos show where I had to call back to back until someone answered the phone.

My mother arrived at the Bessemer campus 7-2-19. Upon my arrival to visit, she informed me she had requested a bed pan several minutes earlier. After another 5 or 6 minutes I walked to the front desk to request one for her. The attendant called out to someone in the lobby to get her a bed pan, that person placed the burden on another employee also in the lobby as did the next. 3 employees just at their leisure in the lobby refusing to help. I was assured a bed pan was on the way. I returned to her room to wait at least 4-6 more minutes until an employee finally brought a bed pan. As the employee was walking away I was trying to inform her that my mother would need assistance, she ignored me and continued walking away waving her hands as if frustrated. After another 3-4 minutes the employee returns with another to assist in cleaning up my mother’s bed and clothing because she urinated all over them while waiting.In summary my complaint isn’t about the lengthy timeline to get a bed pan, it’s about the 5 employees “2 of which were in the patients lobby directly across from my mothers room” also being the 2 who assisted her took so long while doing absolutely nothing.
