The only reason I am placing a one star, is to post a comment. My mother is currently a patient at this facility, she was admitted on 4/12/22, since that date, i have had to visit my mother in a local emergency room, because every time she coughs or blinks, they send her to the emergency room. On 4/20/22, she was taken to the ER, because the nursing staff stated that she was having trouble breathing..... SHES A DNR! On 4/19/22, she was taken by ambulance to the emergency room due to a fall that occurred in her room of Diversicare. The x-ray shows an older break in her arm that happened in October of 2021. I've had multiple meeting and calls with their administration only to be sadly disappointed. My mother is dying and they are not allowing her to go through this process. They are prolonging her suffering. Do not send your neighbor's dog to this facility!
My mother has had over 80 pieces of clothing lost I have found her pills on her bed and table 7 times. The person who gives her food will not wear a mask I have pictures or her several times. I have pictures of 8 to 10 depends in the floor of her bathroom. They have put two depends on her and the administrator said that was ok. Found a vile of blood in her bed. Have a video of the pill compartment open in the hall with all the pills in it no one around for 30 min. The place smells so bad you can smell it as you come in the door. Worst attitude of any nurses I have ever seen. Lots more waiting on the state to get all my pictures. Wish the mayor and governor would make a evening appearance. If a judge could speak with the people who can communicate that are there they might open there eyes.
Shelby Baptist sent my elderly mother here for rehab. The staff members were more interested in visiting amongst themselves than helping us to get her settled. While waiting, my stepdad and I checked out the bathroom, which is supposed to be shared by FOUR people. When we saw that the toilet was splattered with feces, we rolled her right out of there and took her home. The adjoining room whose occupants were supposed to share that bathroom were male! Don’t be fooled by the 5 star reviews. They are likely fake. This place needs to be shut down.
Disgusting. Rude/heartless employees. All of their residents are severely neglected. Extremely understaffed (2 CNAs at night who care for over 60 residents, including COVID positive residents). They don’t respond or assist residents when they push the light to alert them. I have to clean my mothers room when I visit. They dress her in dirty clothes that were left by someone that had her room before she was admitted there. When I call, no one answers the phones. I wouldn’t even give a dog the food they feed their residents. This place is horrifying. An investigation should be opened against them. GET YOUR LOVED ONES OUT & NEVER SEND THEM HERE. Please.
My step-dad physically walked into this place with minimal assistance for rehab and was discharged in a wheelchair. He developed pressure blisters on his feet that weren't taken care of properly. He fell and pulled his catheter out and blood stayed on the floor for two days in his room. I had to go across the street to bed bath and beyond to purchase him a pillow that wasn't likesleeping on concrete and it was lost when they moved him to another room. I could go on and on.
My question is a simple one with all the bad reviews why does university hospital continue to send people to this place people in prison is treated better than this the food is terrible and the staff is just as bad as the food how does a place like this run out of clean sheets and patients have to sat in a chair until the sheets are clean this place needs to be investigated by the state ofALABAMA
My Father was admitted 6 days ago to the COVID unit. Have as of yet to speak with a nurse or administrator at the facility. Have called multiple times. Will not return messages or does not answer phone at all.
This place is terrible do NOT send your loved ones here at ALL…. They treated my grandma like trash she was roomed with a lady and the tv was blaring the excuse was she was hearing impaired because she uses a Cpap machine (yea ok 😒) mine makes no noise unless the pillows move from my nose also didn’t give her pain medicine or breakfast and she told them at 8 am she was wet and needed to be changed my sister got there at 11 and the excuse was they got busy and forgot also the lady next to my grandma was wet and needed to be changed also oh and when she arrived there was no call button to press so she screamed to get attention because she needed help and they told her she better not be screaming anymore at that place what is she supposed to do when she has a broken hip and they are supposed to help with therapy? They never planned on helping her they didn’t care.
My brother who doesn't live in Birmingham was transfered to UAB for a pace maker from Opp, Al. UAB transfered him to this place for rehab. He went from UAB with covid, and was quarantined for a short period of time. He then was sent to the non covid ward. He could no longer stand and continued to get weaker, and weaker. They claimed he wasn't doing his rehab. He says he was. He had a very bad bed sore. Every time his wife requested he be released and sent back to Opp, they found more things to claim was wrong. They claimed he had UTI, and phemonia, and the very bad bed sore. We finally made a decision to sign him out on our on and get him moved to another facility . When we questioned the director about his Urine test results, and chest x-ray she couldn't or wouldn't produce them. She would let us talk to the doctors on staff, said they didn't talk to family member that she did it all. We were told he was a very sick man, yet he had only oxygen on him.In making the decisions to have him sign his self out we were told if we did we would be responsible for getting him in a vehicle and that he couldn't ride for 3 hours in a car. Well he did make it on the ride, and was carried straight to the ER at Opp hospital. Where we were told his bed sore had an oder to it. He was unbathed. And the food is very sparce. Do not send your loved ones there, I believe my brother would have been kept there till he passed away. It seemed he was a prisoner, and that is how he felt.
UAB sent my father here to receive "rehab" after he contracted COVID and had a stroke caused by COVID. He was here for 21 days and he lost at least 15 lbs and had 3, THREE, bed sores when we got him home. He received little rehab and obviously zero care if he had THREE bed sores. Of the 21 days he was there, 10 days of it were quarantined and we were unable to see him. This place is terrible. If you care about your family member, I implore you to not send them here.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
