10/10 DO NOT recommend! Spent 3.5 hours in the ER with my 2 year old who had rapid onset of 101.2 fever, SEVERE diarrhea (16 full dirty diapers in less than 12 hours), fatigue, loss of appetite, lack of thirst, and her stool smells absolutely awful. Spent that long in there for a cup of Gatorade, 5mL of Motrin, a look in her ears to say her ear infection of 2 weeks cleared up, and to stop the antibiotics she’s been on for said infection, and was discharged with info about diarrhea. The dr didn’t even check her abdomen or diaper when he came in! His exam had NOTHING to do with the acute onset of her illness and they weren’t even concerned about dehydration and even told me “she can go a week without eating, that’s fine, just make sure she stays hydrated” ummmm WHAT?! AND no blood was drawn to check her white blood cell count for potential infection, they completely disregarded that she hasn’t run a fever at all until 11am on 12/12/21, AND they told me she could potentially have a parasite called Giardia and told me to follow up with her pediatrician, so I had my kid up til 3am for no reason. They attributed everything to the ear infection WHICH SHE DOESNT EVEN HAVE ANYMORE! I work in EMS so for me to even take my children to an ER is concerning, but for me to have one of them there from midnight til 3am should be alarming! Needless to say I am not a happy mama and am gonna be even more livid if I’m correct about what I think is wrong with her😡😡
The staff on the 8th floor or the greatest
*Please disregard my picture* Wonderful facility and amazing staff. I live in Gadsden, so its not to far of a drive. But they literally have saved my life. And im grateful for this every day. Thank you Children's of Alabama😇 Dr. X is literally a heaven sent Angel
Always clean nice with extraordinary staff
Waiting time is AWFUL! We had a 1:00 appointment with GI doctor and was there for almost 3 hours for a 15 minute consultation! I understand running behind but Children’s need to give patients a heads up if they are running that far behind!!! That put me an hour behind for another appointment I had at 4:00 Alabaster! 😡
Super thankful for the care my kids have received at Children’s! The nurses and staff here have always been kind and helpful, and my drs have all been amazing, providing quality care while being patient and attentive to my concerns and the needs of my kids.
Horrible waiting time. You better have 6 to 12 hours cut out when you come to this location
I would not recommend. My son come in as a Trama patient. He was assigned to the “surgery team”. They are very unorganized and there is no communication. His surgeries was switched all around several times without me knowing as well. He even had diagnoses that I was not even aware of until I ask after seeing them on the patient portal. Totally disaster! He ended up testing positive for COVID which was a complete surprise to us and we had to quarantine for 10 days with not 1 symptom. I requested a re-test because my son had COVID twice and had every COVID symptom and so did I. I feel like it was a false positive and they would not re-test him. After that, I feel that we was labeled as “COVID” and his quality of care went down. Nothing was urgent anymore nor was he important. I felt defeated and discriminated against. Totally lack of care. After a hip surgery, my son laid in bed without anyone coming in to check his wound incisions. The list and story goes on and on because so much happened. It definitely was a horrible experience and I would have left, if my son did not need his IV fluids and pain meds through IV. Would totally not recommend this hospital.
As a former ER nurse, its hard to not be critical of other nurses when things don’t go smoothly, specially when it’s your child. But I was truly blown away by the care we got at Children’s ER. Took my very sick kid to Children’s and the care and attention he got gave me peace of mind because I knew he was in good hands. From the moment we walked in the nurses were extremely professional and focused on making sure my son was taken care of. Although the initial process of getting IV access was not a pleasant experience (Hint: it never is), I knew they had his best interests in mind and were doing what needed to be done to take care of him. The NP and doctors were also very informative during the whole process and answered all of our questions. Thanks to the staff at Children’s ER for doing an outstanding job taking care of my son during this time.
Very help and professional staff

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
