My mother went into septic shock and died from an untreated UTI under his care at Brookwood Hosptial following a TAVR procedure. I expressed multiple times to Dr Bakir and his two nurses that I thought my mother had a UTI. She has a history of them and we believe a UTI is causing confusion (CTscan ruled out stroke). My mother also had really low blood pressure (dialtoloc was in the 30’s and 40’s, her’s is usually really high). She also wasn’t producing urine which he used an excuse to not test her for a UTI. Throughout the day her O2 was dropping. He never showed up. The nurse got him on the phone While he was finally on the way to the hospital (Sunday night). The dr talked me into intubating her. I thought he would still come but he never showed up. My mother suffered a horrible death and he did nothing but turned around and went home. Thank God for a compassionate acute care NP who put herself on the case when she saw what was happening. She couldn’t save her but she tried.

Dr. Bakir was recommended by a friend and ER physician after my husband was diagnosed with a DVT. Dr. Bakir went above and beyond, called us and explained options, got us in to the office quickly. Treatment is upcoming, but we have great confidence in the outcome.
