Samantha Wyatt's Online Review Report Card

I went to this office as a new patient on the recommendation of a friend. Dr Wyatt and her assistant that I had were very kind and friendly. Dr Wyatt was very knowledgeable and comprehensively addressed my concerns. However, I am giving a 3-star review due to my experience with the front desk staff. I manage the front office of a dental practice and I would be embarrassed if we communicated with patients this way. I stood at the desk to check in for a very long time while the receptionist faced me but spoke to a patient behind her, never making eye-contact with me. She never acknowledged I was standing in front of her and even after the other patient left, she kept typing without addressing me until I finally asked if she wanted to take my name. The interaction was short, indifferent, and I certainly didn’t feel welcomed to be there. I believe eye contact and a greeting go a very long way, even when you are multitasking and busy.

Worse visit ever. Staff unfriendly. I waited in exam room for an hour. No apology. I did my part by arriving for the appointment on time. Never will visit her office again!

Dr. Wyatt is the best dermatologist in north Alabama. She is brilliant at diagnosing melanoma. Reviews that focus on office staff or anything else but her competency are irrelevant, in my opinion. If you want the best eyes looking at possible cancerous lesions, her gift of recognizing concerning discolorations is outstanding.

Dr. Wyatt is very nice and good at what she does. My issue is with the cancellation policy/procedure for contacting patients of upcoming appointments. My husband had an appointment recently. The staff said they tried to call him and were unable to get in touch (he says he never received a call). They call me 22.5 hours before his appointment, and I tell them he is unable to attend. They said because it was not 24 hours before, there would be a $50 cancellation fee. Another dermatologist our son uses sends 1 text to confirm appointments and 2 additional texts closer to time as reminders. With some dermatologist appointments being scheduled a year or more in advance, contacts made with enough time to allow for a no fee cancellation are preferable.

Very friendly, great office staff, and has always been able to get me an appointment in a reasonable period of time.

She seems to be a good doctor but her office staff is beyond awful. They are terribly rude and dishonest with patients.

Dr Wyatt is a very good doctor, but my complaint is about her staff at the front desk. I was broken out into hives SIX MONTHS ago and just now got in to see her. I am a returning patient, too.( I originally went to see her several years ago about some cysts. ). Because it had been a while I was treated by the front desk as a new patient and had to wait this long period of time before I could see her again. I understand about policies, but the receptionist was very cool toward me. Also, the office changed locations since my last visit. The receptionist didn’t bother to tell me about that, so I called them up. She gave me directions that were unclear- again, she handled the situation almost “robot like.” So I looked for it on Apple Maps and it took me to the old location! Lord have mercy, what an experience. Mistakes happen, but I would have appreciated a friendlier response from the front desk. I understand that a receptionist’s job is not an easy one. No job when someone has to deal with the public ever is. But I would highly recommend to Dr Wyatt to invest in a “people person “for the front. Someone who could explain policies or handle miscommunications with ease and grace would be greatly appreciated.

Amazing MD that needs to have a convo with her front office staff about tone with customers. When a loyal compliant patient comes in, and you cannot get past the rude tones of the first and last people you encounter at your visit, it is hard to remember the loyalty you have to your provider. No human should encounter, on the phone or otherwise, such tones or facial expressions. If you are not happy where you are, there are other places to be. Everyone has a bad day, or two, but when it is 2-3 times a year....But remember, you are coming into contact with people that likely have something that is affecting their self esteem already, BE KIND. Don't speak with disgust. #atleastfakeit..PS sent several colleagues and friends to see her

My wife and I have nothing but a wonderful experience with Dr Wyatt. The staff were very friendly and professional.

Dr. Wyatt is an excellent doctor. I've known her personally for years. This post isn't directed towards her at all. I just went to the office and I've had this appointment for 3 months for my 6 month old. The office had in the computer my daughter had BCBS, I never told them that and she has Medicaid. Apparently they do not accept Medicaid and the error was on the front desk. I offered to pay cash for them to see her and they would not allow me to do that because they said since she has Medicaid insurance then she has to use that insurance... that's the first I've ever heard of this. And not accepting cash is ridiculous. My 6 month old is covered head to toe with something. And we have tried everything under the sun to help her. Now, we will have to wait another 3-6 months to try to find a doctor that will take Medicaid or CASH...the front desk staff was awfully rude. It is very frustrating when you cant help your baby and nobody seems to care (meaning the front staff at Decatur Dermatology). CASH unacceptable is insane... and I missed my oldest daughters awards day at school today because I was going to the dermatologist with my baby. I'm livid..
