List of David W. Alford's Reviews
I went to Dr. Alford due to pain in my Achilles’ tendon and foot. I was born with a club foot that was surgically corrected as an infant. If you know anything about club foot surgery, it involves tendons, not bones. When explaining my problems, I told him how I have to manuver my foot to get it just right to be comfortable. His suggestion was to put me in a foot cast for a month (I can’t keep my foot immobile like that because it cramps horribly) and to possibly do an MRI after that time. So I was supposed to be in horrible pain for a month before even doing an MRI to see what was going on. He merely did an X-ray, which doesn’t show tendons. Also, on my X-ray he said I had an extra bone. NO I have a cyst, it’s not a bone. Maybe if he would have sent me for an MRI he would have known that. The kicker was when he told me I had to quit smoking before he would fix my foot. I have had over 40 surgeries and have never had a dr tell me he wouldn’t treat me if I didn’t quit smoking. Sure I’ve been told it would be better for me to quit, but never denied care if I didn’t. Anyhow, found me a new dr!
I went to SBAJ for ankle swelling and pain. I was ignored when I said that previous treatment wasn't working. In fact, he offered to refill the same meds that I was just saying didn't work. While checking out, I asked about possible causes for the issue. He responded by telling me that ankle swelling seems to be the flavor of the day. I still don't know what is causing the issue, the only thing I was told is to come back when I need another shot. I went there wanting the cause of the issue to be treated, instead he wants to just treat the symptoms. One positive thing is that the shot he gave me was painless.
This review is several years in the making. Dr. Alford surgically repaired my ankle after a bad accident. Made sure I was alright after surgery in the hospital room until I was discharged, very very nice guy. I had to call back because the metal in my foot got infected, and the billing person I spoke with at his office was very rude, told me I needed to pay the entire balance before I could be helped again. Well I saw a local Dr, who referred me back to Dr. Alford, I told him about the lady that denied me and he was livid! I'm not sure what happened to that person but Dr. Alford immediately sent me to the hospital and operated, the bones in my foot were healed so he took the metal or, stitched me up, I started a few more days in the hospital, where he monitored me, then I went home. I would recommend Dr. Alford to anyone!
I had a hammer toe and a bad bunion on my right foot. My bunion never hurt, but it was big and disfiguring. My hammer toe began rubbing t he inside tops of my shoes causing irritation to my toe. Since I am diabetic, Dr. Alford highly recommended surgery to correct the hammer toe and the bunion. I was a little apprehensive, but the surgery went great! I never had severe pain, even though he made four incisions and had to put screws in my foot because my bunion was so bad. I took pain meds for only two days! I was fitted with a wedge shoe to help me walk on my heel so I could walk to bathroom using a Walker. This was a lifesaver. At least I was a little mobile without having to depend on anyone. I have taken care of my foot just like Dr. Alford told me to do. It has healed nicely. I appreciate the care I have been given for my foot. I highly recommend Dr. Alford and Southern Bone and Joint of Dothan! Dr. Alford told me he would give me an “A” for how well my foot has healed. So glad I went to Dr. Alford! He’s he best!
I wrote an awful review on Dr. Alford and now over a year later I feel the need to change it. Dr. Alford is a good man and a good doctor. My main issue was pain care after surgery, I still do not feel I was given enough pain care. However he had told me what to expect as far a s the use of my foot and everything he said was correct.. Dr. Alford stayed in surgery for over 7 hours trying to save my foot. I will be forever grateful for that... It's been almost 2 years since he done the surgery and I have now decided to amputate the leg, due to pain. Dr, Alford done a remarkable job with my foot and if not for the horrendous pain and swelling my foot would be great with me. The pain is from numerous surgeries on a foot I should have had amputated long before I was lucky enough to meet Dr. Alford. He is a good doctor and a good man.
Very disappointed. Had bunion surgery thinking he would straighten my toe. He said he didn't have to use any pins. Since the surgery my foot looks the same as before. The big toe going under my second toe. It is still swollen and numb. The surgery was almost 4 months ago. He told me that it wasn't his best job but as long as I didn't have pain. Still waiting for that to happen. Would not recommend him to anyone. He is the 4 doctor I've had from Southern Bone. The other 3 was great.
I had an excellent experience with Dr Alphord. My ankle surgery and recovery was excellent.
Just chasing money, throws you out after surgery, you should have no pain in his opinion, yes he is Jesus in his mind.
I have never been to a more rude, prejudice, hateful doctor in all of my life after my wreck. He talks down people with tattoos and gets very angry when you ask questions!
I was referred there by the Enterprise ER for a broken heel bone. The employees here have an extreme lack of communication, the lack of simple medical knowledge within the staff was a definite red flag for me, and very rude. Also, when it came to figuring out insurance and payments they were extremely unreasonable and willing to work with you. I had an extremely horrible experience with this clinic and personally would not even want my worst enemy to go to this clinic. The lack of compassion and the unwillingness to work with their patients there is also a huge reason why this clinic has such a horrid reputation. I would recommend an entire new staff due to the bad attitudes and rudeness and would not trust this clinic to be the ones to do the surgery and be the ones throughout the healing process after all the horrible stuff they have already put me through. It's worth the drive to go elsewhere for better care.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
