Dr. Sugg has gone above and beyond for all of my needs. Recently, my son had a strange infection in his eye. Dr. Sugg even took his personal time to look into my sons problems further to be sure we received the right treatment. Just today he treated my dad for an emergency and took care of of him as if he were his own father. I am blessed to have him as my doctor, as well the doctor for my family. You can trust him and his skills.

I have used this office for many years. Dr Sugg is an excellent Dr and his staff is wonderful.

I don’t normally take time to do reviews but extraordinary service deserves mention. Dr. Sugg and his staff go out of their way to accommodate and take care of my families needs. Professionally, he is incredibly knowledgeable and really takes time to engage each patient. His staff is friendly and makes the paperwork stuff uneventful. Overall, they really care that people are taken care of. In today’s world that is infinitely important and appreciated.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Sugg and the team at Dothan Ophthalmology. They did a great job of serving me and making sure that all of my needs were met. He is a very respectful and personable man who will make sure to answer your questions or help with any of your eye care needs.

I've visited Dr. Sugg on a couple of occasions, and so have other family members of mine. It's always been a pleasant experience surrounded by a knowledgeable and helpful doctor, and considerate and supportive staff. Highly recommend.

Long review, here's the Cliff's Notes takeaway: Doctor is wonderful and thorough, his office staff are rude and incompetent. If you have Tricare reconsider using this facility. The jury is still out as to whether or not they figured out how to process my child's insurance claim. ------- First, Dr. Sugg was phenomenal. He and his assistant were wonderful, respectful, and thorough in their examination of my toddler. I felt engaged and all my questions were answered and things were sufficiently explained to me. The reason for my three star review is his office staff which I found to be rude, unprofessional, and incompetent in regards to job related skills. Had it not been for the wonderful experience I had with Dr. Sugg himself this would have undoubtedly been a one star review. Neither the office receptionist (rude on the phone and in person) or the alleged "insurance girl" (not rude but also not well-versed in dealing with Tricare insurance) could figure out how to process Tricare insurance using the sponsor's SSN. Neither my child nor I are eligible for a military ID and this has never been an issues with any civilian doctor he has seen (primary care, other specialists, and an extended hospital stay-- never an issue). I always provide the sponsor's social and my son's info. I'm less concerned that they were unable to do this, there's a first time for everything I guess, but more concerned with the attitude I received from the receptionist and how they felt it was appropriate to discuss this matter in earshot of an occupied waiting room. And to make matters worse, the "insurance girl" felt it appropriate to come discuss it with me in the waiting room further. When I again explained I don't have a military ID she responded with "so, you forgot yours?" She finished with saying they'd never "seen this before" and that they'll "figure it out." I'm surprised by this considering Ft. Rucker is 20 miles away and this is the only ophthalmologist outside of Birmingham that my son's PC could find who accepts pediatric patients. The whole encounter was rude, unprofessional, and demonstrated a clear lack of competency. I will find out in a few weeks (via a bill) if they indeed "figured it out." It's very unfortunate considering the wonderful experience we had with the doctor himself.

We have used Dr. Sugg since my children were both 3 years old. We eventually transferred our entire family over so he cares for all of our needs. We get our yearly exams and contacts from his office. I was also able to quickly get a new pair of glasses made when I lost mine just before we were traveling out of the country. They have been so friendly and accommodating even with difficult requests. Both of my boys always felt completely comfortable during their exams and actually love going there. The office is quaint and homey so not intimidating to children at all. I would highly recommend Dr. Sugg if you are looking for an ophthalmologist that can serve your entire family’s needs in a very personal and professional setting.
