Arthur J Torre Md's Online Review Report Card

I have been going to Dr. Torre since I was five years old. To this day, he has been there for me to answer my questions about my asthma and allergies. I recommend him to anyone who has asthma, allergies, or divers.

The care provided by this office is exceptional. Dr. Torre's staff has always gone above and beyond, always taking the time and effort to serve my family's medical needs in a competent and caring manner. We had referred friends to Dr. Torre who had been to several other doctors with their child's eczema and chronic illness. Dr. Torre is the only one able to identify the problem and customize a successful treatment plan for their child. Dr. Torre will always give the patient the time necessary to get it right. There were times when we needed referrals, and were always reminded when a new one was needed, despite the fact that it was my responsibility to make sure we had one. If you're looking for an amazing doctor who cares about you as a patient, who will give you the time you need, and who always seems to get it right, Dr. Torre's office is the place to be.

Caveat Emptor This is the most dysfunctional “medical practice” I have ever experienced in my life. The technology infrastructure seems to be from the early 1970s, which for those old enough to remember means it is paper and fax-machine based! My wife had been taking our kids to Dr. Torre for several years. Then in August 2017 they accepted an appointed for my daughter without the ability to verify that the previous referral needed to be updated. When our HMO refused to pay, Dr. Torre’s office blamed us! When my wife disputed the claim, they first tried to negotiate for $80, then $190 then $300. But most important to them was a guarantee that my kids would continue as patients. I quote Dr. Torre’s daughter, “How can we be sure you will still come back if we accept the lower price.” The professional thing to do would be to acknowledge your error! Not possible for them. Fast forward to March 2018 when my wife received a call from Dr. Torre’s accountants requesting to resolve the matter before it is sent to collection. My wife then called Dr. Torre’s office and was told that she would receive a call back. Waiting for Godot! I went to his office to inquire about the matter and was told by the new negotiator that the matter was turned over to collection, which according to their accountants is a lie. When I asked why she had not returned my wife’s call, she said the had the wrong number. When I asked what number she called, she didn’t remember and claimed to have shredded the number. I asked why she had not gotten the number from the patient’s file, she replied that the files (paper files) are in the attic. Let the buyer be aware.

I am an aspiring scuba diver who developed some ear issues on a training dive for my PADI certification. Dr. Torre is a passionate diver who has developed special expertise in scuba diving, so I went to see him to understand if my issues could be addressed. Dr. Torre is the real deal when it comes to diving medicine. He spent significant time with me to evaluate me physically, spent time personally teaching me proper techniques for equalization to prevent future issues and prescribed medications that would also help. The office and staff are also outstanding. I highly recommend Dr. Torre as a diving medicine doctor.

Dr. Torre is thorough and very knowledgeable. There is never a wait and the staff is friendly. Both Dr. Torre and the nurse takes the time to go over all my questions and concerns.

My Review of Dr. A. Torre, After recently moving from Europe to suburban New Jersey, I needed to find a doctor for the long term care of both me and my wife’s asthma and allergy issues. As I am not usually affected until early spring, my wife’s treatment came first because she was having a bad reaction to the dust in our newly renovated house. Dr. Torre was the highest rated doctor that was close to our house. Even though he was completely NOT covered by my insurance, something that was confirmed by an Aetna representative, I still chose to pay out of pocket to commit to building a relationship with the practice. I was able to make a reservation for the next day, which was fantastic because she was suffering terribly. The appointment was really great. The staff saw her almost right away. They spent almost 2 full hours getting her background and analyzing her condition. The staff recorded everything said, down to minutiae, which most doctors do not even take the time of effort to listen to, let alone record. All of this screening led to a very thorough prognosis of her condition together with an “attack plan” of how to deal with her condition. The next day, she felt much better and we were both happy we chose Dr. Torre and made the commitment to his office. One thing about this treatment, which I know from my experience with the doctors in the other areas I have had from the other geographies I have lived, is that you will require long term treatment to get healthy. My last doctor saw me at least once a month in the spring, and much more when I was getting de-sensitizing treatment a number of years back, something I am looking to begin again. Anyhow, as we both have work and other commitments, I am used to my practice being flexible regarding appointment rescheduling. Personally, I am a consultant who has a calendar constantly “in-flux”, as I need to cater to clients issues as they appear. This is where I have issue with the practice. The last time I was there we had made an appointment for next Tuesday for a follow up. When I made the appointment, I had asked for the end of the week, as the beginning of the week is usually hard due to work obligations. The staff member told me I had to come this week and they only had Monday or Tuesday open. I reluctantly agreed to Tuesday even though no matter what, It would be a hardship for us. My wife had been feeling great and we were looking forward to begin the next step of tests and treatment options. Earlier in the day, however, my most important client called with an urgent issue that requires me to fly to Chicago for the day. When I contacted the office to inform them of the issue, the receptionist seemed very upset and barked that they have a 48 hour cancellation policy. When I informed her that I had never heard that before, and if I did would have NEVER placed the appointment (for the reasons listed above). She barked back to me that she informed me about the cancellation policy personally and its “written on everything I was given”. When I told her that I was never told that or read it, she said that I would have to pay a 50 dollar fee for the visit. I told her that if I found such a written policy, I would pay but it would be my last visit to their office as I would have to find a more flexible practice, especially as I am paying 100% out of pocket for the services. She seemed to have no problem with that, insofar as to end the relationship of 2 patients for 50 dollars. I write this review to let people know that this is a fantastic practice! The attention to detail and level of service you receive is amazing! Dr Torre was able to find a solution for my wife which relieved her symptoms and made her feel ‘normal’ again. Just beware that if you require any flexibility, you will not find it here.

DR. TORRE IS DEDICATED TO EXTRAORDINARY PATIENT OUTCOMES. I RECOMMEND HIM TO ADULTS AND CHILDREN WITH ALLERGIES AND ASTHMA.

Dr. Torre is the best allergist in New Jersey. His knowledge far exceeds any other allergist around. My asthma and allergies have never been controlled until I started going to his office. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They spend an hour with each patient for a well visit - I've never had that much time dedicated to my care anywhere before. I would recommend anyone with allergies or asthma to see Dr. Torre.
