Love Nurse Kelli, always takes great care of me. Can’t figure out why BCBS will not let me put their care team on as my primary. But i love love the people here and dislike having to go elsewhere.

Dr Stevens is the best. Forget leaving a message on the nurses line They have picked up and then hung up. Called back then when I answered hung up on me. I am a retired RN. I know you can get very busy but this behavior is unacceptable. TheFront office staff is very kind and do the best they can.
Had a baby boy about a month ago at South Baldwin. Was very impressed and appreciated the staff there. The nurses were very helpful and patient. Dr. Leff was also a very good doctor very informative. Everyone was personable and kind. Very much appreciated when delivering my little boy. Thank you!! It was a good experience!
I am giving 2 star because ms Christina is nice personAnd the person I talk to get appointment on phone they have no sense of humor and they are rude
We were vacationing in Orange Beach when my husband became gravely ill. I knew nothing about this hospital but it turned out to be an amazing place. Not as high tech as some but way above the regional medical center in Baton Rouge as far as patient care. The staff ( Mary at registration, physicians, nurses, housekeeping staff) was so kind to us and so attentive to the needs of my husband. We had a good outcome and will be forever grateful for this hospital and the staff. Carlous Anderson Stevens-Retired RN
My husband John and I were vacationing in Gulf Shores. On 9/20/2021 he fell and hit his head and dislocated his shoulder. I brought him straight to the ER. I just want to say our experience from start to finish was amazing. They took us immediately assesed him and got a CT and xrays. They were able to reduce his shoulder in the ER without surgery. Everyone was kind caring and professional. I am a surgical nurse in a hospital back home and I was thoroughly impressed. Thanks to everyone who cared for John that evening. We are truly grateful!
We had an unexpected visit to the ER this morning at 1am with severe abdominal stress with my wife. The EMT's were at our residence within 4 minutes, the check in at the registration desk was quick and our stay lasted about 1 1/2 hours as blood work was done, an RN ( didn't get his name) helped us and Dr. Ronnie Sims took care of my wife. Overall, a great experience with all concerned and for those responders in this review section that have a problem with South Baldwin Medical Center, it's over an hour drive to Pensacola.
I cut my shin at work with a skilsaw and it took a chunk of my bone. The doctors ground my bone without anesthetic for about 15 minutes. You want to know how they used to do surgery back in the 1800's? pay them a visit and you'll find out...the pain was so bad I wanted to die.
I came as a patient to the freestanding ER in severe pain and I was treated horribly. The physician had the most horrible and shocking bedside manner I’ve ever seen. I was treated as a hospital hopping drug seeker, when in reality I was in the most blinding pain of my life. My pain was VERY real and the doctors and nurses cared nothing about me as a patient. The only concerns the staff had were getting back to their cell phones and their dominos pizza at the desk. I was told by the doctor that he wasn’t treating my pain and my coming to the ER was a waste of his time. I was treated as stupid, incompetent and drug seeking. I’m a nurse myself and I would never ever allow my patients or family to be treated the way I was treated in your ER tonight. There was blood on the walls and roaches a spiders crawling the floor of my ER room. We were ignored for cell phones and pizza and treated as a nuisance when I was in the worst pain of my life. Will be warning everyone I know to stay away. I would rather risk my life getting to a different hospital than to come back to this freestanding ER.
This is the worst hospital I have ever imagined. They treat their patients like slabs of meat. They enter a room without even saying hello how are you the worst bedside manner I have ever seen anywhere. If you want to live stay out of this hospital
good afternooni had past experience with the hsp, i had a bill that i had been paying off, then unfortunately i lost my job, at that time making small payments, i explained to the person when i had given my payment the situation. She had noted the account, and after that i had not received any more correspondence from the hsp. Now i get debt collector, very rude didnt care etc, and explained what had happened, she verified address said that was not the correct address and mentioned that was from t he hsp. South Baldwin has my address has i had been receiving prior statements from them, then no further statements since 2018. Now 3 years later? Seriously So. Baldwin? This is the second time this has happened.
I literally just left there (Gulf Shores location) & I will NEVER go anywhere else. These were the kindest people & super thorough! They of course did the regular Covid swab/flu swab but they also started several other test since my blood pressure was super low & i was struggling. We just moved here & a friend suggested I go here rather than one that was a bit closer! I thank God I did. They took excellent care of this sick woman! My husband, a veteran, asked if they took VA Ins bc he wants to go there if he needs an ER.lol Thank y’all so much for you kindness & treating me so good today!!!!
South Baldwin billing is terrible. I understand that we are in COVID times and everyone is short staffed but when you require someone to leave a voicemail that person has an expectation that they will get a return phone call. I do not understand why it has been going on 3 months now and I have yet to get a call back after numerous voicemails. They will be quick to turn you into collections if you don’t pay your bill but you literally can’t get a hold of anyone to pay the bill. 😫
On 8/21/21 app 5:30 my mom had a fall and was taken to the Gulf Shores ER via ambulance; she is 93 with advanced dementia. My sister arrived app 15 min later and waited in the parking lot for an hour before they called her in. She called me at 4:45 am and asked if I could relieve her; at 10.30, my mom was transported to Foley. Sometime during her stay at the ER, her diamond wedding band and watch disappeared; we’ve gotten conflicting stories with no resolution even with GS police involved. This hospital either stole, or incompetently disposed of, jewelry belonging to a 93 yr old dementia patient. I will be contacting local news stations tomorrow to bring this to the public’s attention. If you’re ever injured and require ambulatory transportation there, make sure to remove your jewelry before you go.
Their billing dept is flawed, they bill for the emergency room visit, then seperatly bill for the Doctor. Meaning your co pay takes care of the emergency room or as the say the facilities, but then you get a second bill for the medical side, which then you have to fight with insurance to convience it was part of the event. Dirty billing
So, I am sitting at an After hours clinic now waiting for them to open... with my 18 year old diabetic daughter, who has severe abdominal pain. We originally went to South Baldwin, and I have never been so LIVID. At the front desk, the receptionist couldn’t bother herself to be concerned with my child, who was in distress. She couldn’t understand the info that I was trying to give her ( name and birthdate) - even though I had laid the insurance card down in front of her and was POINTING at the information she kept asking. I had accidentally misspoken my daughter’s age as 19. As she clipped the paper work and told me to go to the car, I spoke up and asked about her being 18. She turned to those around her and said in a VERY condescending tone ,” Do you want to deal with this? They said she was 19, now she is 18- I guess next she will be 17.” At that point, after having dealt with her rudeness - I would not have left a dying pet at your emergency stand alone premier facility. I can not believe that she never asked one medical question, when it was Obvious we were in a medical emergency. I HAVE NEVER received care( or not received care) and had any receptionist at an EMERGENCY room treat me like that. I am appalled and will spend my life telling everyone about how lacking your facilities are. You should all really review the check in procedures at the Emergency Hospital- because, teenage diabetic patients in severe abdominal pain shouldn’t have to be sitting outside of the local urgent care clinic waiting for it to open, because your facility is incapable of helping- y’all should be ashamed. I am beyond mad, hurt, and frustrated!!
my cousin was taken by ambulance to the FREE STANDING IN GULF SHORES owned by South Baldwin hospital because she was sick, and genuinely thought she could be dying & they let her bleed all over the floor. The paramedics and nurses set her on the direct floor when she arrived. No care, no offer to check on her. She was throwing up and bleeding all over the floor out of both ends of her body. She was on the pavement of their parking lot bleeding. We then called the location in Foley & they said “don’t bring her here” and they hung up. It was 3 am and they were not busy. ended up having to leave after this and take her to thomas while she bled all over my backseat because this hospital, both locations was careless. They also let her sit in blood and feces in front of every body in the waiting room and did not clean it off the floor.
Do not recommend. Was sent to ER from rapid care with concerns of a GI bleed and epigastric pain. NP told me ‘the lifestyle of coming down here and drinking will cause stomach pain’. After telling her several times I had not drank anything other than water and sweet tea, she told me it was my “tobacco usage”. Several other complaints during visit there. (More than happy to go further in to detail) Came home from visiting family to see my PCP, I was diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer. I now know why people will bypass a local ER
I just had my colonoscopy this afternoon. I have to say, I had the most awesome, caring, wonderful, Dr. and nurses!! I have never felt so comfortable! Dr. Woods and nursing staff and everyone else who made my procedure comfortable just want to let you know that you are the best! Thank you all so much!!! YOU ALL ROCK!!
