List of Northside Healthcare's Reviews
This facility earns a 3 Star from me because of one Nurse. Without her, the rating would be in the toilet. Let me explain why. The Nurse I speak of did her job. From my understanding, she's the one that passed medication, checked in on Residents. From my and the families perspective, thats what she did. Anytime we were there, at the least, if we went to her, she sailed to the ma in laws room. The positivity stops there. My mother in law was sent to this place fresh out of the hospital. She'd been in so long she couldn't walk on her own, at the time. She couldn't stand on her own. She'd been in a bed for weeks. (I do believe high blood sugar and some other difficulties play a part) The entire time she was in Northside, she was kept in the bed and rarely put into a wheelchair to sit, hovered over, complaining about her back hurting her. Ain't no wonder why. She spoke of being left alone for long periods of time. That's understandable. We went to visit every day and she was always in the bed. Her husband (pa in law) was there more often, of course .. and says many times he'd come in and she was sitting in her own waste. Pardon grossness but I speak of "#2" where she needed cleaning up. She'd lay there hours on end waiting for assistance to use the restroom or a pan etc.Her mental and physical capabilities got so bad that when she was ushered out the door (on a Sunday with a confusing list of medications) she was home a mere 5 hours before she had to be taken to the hospital again. She was in pain, her blood sugar was reaching 600 (I am sorry but thats BS!!!) It is crystal clear she was forgotten OR neglected. I do understand the workers get busy. I get that, I have had jobs in the past similar and the same as they. However, in that sort of position, you can NOT look at your patients as a JOB. They are PEOPLE WHO NEED YOU.My mother in law was in the hospital for about two weeks the SECOND time around (thats more BS, sorry) Then, after pleading with the place, PLEASE DO SOMETHING FOR HER, she was admitted to another facility. Y'all ... she was better .. listen to me ... the - next - day. No she couldn't run marathons but she stood on her own two feet for a few solid minutes. Yes she still needed assistance at that point but she went from being able to do NOTHING at Northside to making progress the day after. She had rehab .. DAILY. Not weekly. For almost two hours and she enjoyed it. She is now home, thank mercy, and this place even set up assistance to come into her home. She's on the mend. She's an amazing lady who doesn't have one ounce of "I give up" in her body. She's gonna be fine -- no friggen thanks to Northside. In the father in laws words: "I wouldn't put a dog in Northside"Bit of advice: When your loved one needs that assistance, ask the Hospital to please place them in a facility that "associates with the Hospital". I pleaded for solid hours, many days in a row. But we got her where she needed to goPrayers and Blessings to anyone reading this. Nothing- nothing- NOTHING trumps the wellbeing of you and your loved ones.
This facility is HORRIBLE!! It is like a horror movie. The patients are not cared for at all. My mother-in-law almost died while there for rehab. They did not care for her and she was sent back to the hospital and placed in ICU for kidney failure. My husband had to call and get the nurses to check on her after he talked to her and she was so sick. If he had not called she would have laid in the bed and died. They took no responsibility for her care or lack of care. This place is run down and looks like a dump. It should be shut down. The staff is incompetent.
Good nurses and patient care staff.
I wouldn't work here or place a family member here. Nothing but travel nurses that sleep during the night shift. People in covid are left down there without aides or nurses . Left without help for a whole day , food tray from supper left at the door and people in covid not fed nor cleaned laying in puke. Travel nurse slept the shift . That's all they care for is the travel staff and their employees with that company are not cared forcovid unit was separated by 2 doors and my family laid there from 3 pm to 8 am the next day yelling for help.
This place is nasty! It looks like it hasn’t been updated in probably twenty years. They won’t let you show up and see your person..you have to make an appointment so they can clean the patient up before you see them. The snacks they give are 1 Hard THE Cheapest kind which most can’t eat and 2 Saltine Crackers. They let my person wear the same nasty stained clothes for a week. They don’t keep the patients clean. Everything is old and all they care about is money. NEVER again 🤢
This facility is nasty! The staff have no regards of the clients. The staff steals the clients property. This facility only cares for money. They accept patients knowing that they are understaffed. They never bathed my aunt or changed her. They knew she couldn't feed herself or serve herself. They just left her to fend for herself. The Filipino staff member is a horrid little foreigner. I wouldn't put my mother-in-law that I despised in this raggedy facility.
A certain nurse is evil. She treated my friend like there was something personal and with hate which must be from something in her. The bed's are the old hand crank style forcing patients to wait extended time in very uncomfortable positions.
My family had a really bad experience my mother was worst coming home than before she got there. My family will not be placed there.
My sister is there. She is very well taken care of. All of the staff have been so friendly and helpful.
Brother there no one can go in and staff just switch call to mangers voicemail!! If someone does talk to you they say they will check and call you back never happens!! Trying to get him moved to UAB b’ham since Monday, not sure but it will probably take the 21 days he supposed to have there,, I am sure the bill will not ome down because of everything that has happened in Gadsden Regional hospital for 2 weeks or rehab still has same problems he went Er with. I would always take a loved one to B’ham to be treated!!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
