I am a patient in the IOP program. Can't speak highly enough about Ryann and the rest of the staff. She has been a blessing to me.

I am a female alcoholic, remaining sober but with difficulty, due to the trauma that I experienced at this facility. After five days of extreme sleep deprivation, and fear of the out-of-control patients, it was necessary for me to leave. That was by no means my plan. I was appalled by the yelling, constant cursing, and fighting among the patients, yet never once did staff intervene. They appeared to be burned out, and resigned to working in that chaotic environment. Though some staff were professional, most appeared to be disengaged and exhausted. In one session, a fight broke out, and patients fled the room. Incredibly, the group facilitator did nothing, remaining at the podium. Theft was rampant, impacting patient morale. Due to the sleep deprivation, many patients would pull chairs together and sleep in group sessions. Bed passes weren't given for exhaustion. At the root of many problems was under staffing and very low paid workers. The population was almost entirely composed of young heroine addicts bussed from Tennessee by the Medicaid bus, who were trying not to lose their children, or to avoid jail. At age 57, I was decades older and very much out of place. Fortunately my husband, an addictions counselor who has worked with drug court populations, fully understood and came to get me. I will continue to use AA to maintain recovery, as BCBS Alabama only pays for Bradford.
