Don’t send loved ones to this place they don’t care for their patients and are impossible to get ahold of. Trash place and staff, and honestly don’t even deserve the one star.
I've called for a few days, to check on my mother. The days that they do answer the phone , I never get connected & the other times after about 10 or more rings I get a message saying I cant leave a voicemail . I'd really love to be able to check on my mother since we are in the MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC & I CAN'T VISIT HER. You would think that this would be as much importance to BROOKSHIRE ,AS IT IS FOR THE PATIENTS LOVED ONES!!
They have good people.
My mom is so happy here. They have a great staff, nice clean rooms, and she loves the food. She is always smiling when we surprise her with a visit.
I worked at Brookshire for over four years. I have worked at a number of other facilities but never have I worked with such caring and compassionate people like the staff at Brookshire. They not only loved on the residents and familys but, they truly cared for each other. The Administrative Team made it a joy to come to work each day. One word sums up this place Excellent.
todays review..6/10/2018 1:00 pm. room 421A..upon entering I get evil eyes from the nurses,I said hello to one 3 times(3rd time loud)before she acknowledged me,I wanted to take my mom outside but that would have required help,so because of the greeting I got coming in I didn't ask,I didn't want to tick anyone off,so I visited with her in the hall,in everyones way.
HORRIBLE administration attention to URGENT MATTERS for repairs on anything!!! currently this place has some sort of broken water pipe which has created a GNAT INFESTATION in the dining room AND all over the bldg. Administration people dont seem overly concerned to of IMMEDIATELY found proper company to come FIX THE PROBLEM and as of June 2016, its 3 wks a problem STILL NOT FIXED. Doors to dining room are closed but NOT SEALED OFF IN ANY WAY to prevent gnats from going all over the bldg. Staff is supposedly 'hand washing all food prep items by HAND' and is serving meals in Styrofoam containers /with plastic utensils so they do NOT have to be washed/sanitized. My question is: if the plates and utensils cant be properly washed/disinfected, EXACTLY HOW CLEAN IS THE KITCHEN WHERE ANY FOOD IS PREPARED or the UTENSILS/POTS etc needed to cook food anyway ???? I notice the OFFICE STAFF does not eat the food this kitchen prepares but feel its 'just FINE to serve residents". My family member is there, and if i could bring this family member HOME, I would....and note as well, we PAY PRIVATELY for care (not one cent is thru insurance/Medicaid as are so many of the residents). State officials and local health depts drag their feet as well in inspecting AND enforcing that the facility be properly maintained OR fining them on a daily basis until repairs can be done CORRECTLY. The only GOOD thing about this place is the attention given to residents by the CNA's, nurses and other staff that has DAILY HANDS ON EXPERIENCE with each patient. Administration here turns a blind eye to issues and no one is actually CONCERNED enough to take responsibility in locating PROPER IMMEDIATE REPAIR company to come fix major issues for the facility. The maintenance staff is overwhelmed in just trying to keep things running in such an old bidg and they DO all they can to keep things going, but THEY are not able to fix major bldg. issues. Unless you have to use this place (as WE DO due to financial constraints and the outrageous costs at ALL facilities), DONT PUT ANYONE HERE THAT YOU CARE ABOUT. NOT ONE PATIENT FAMILY MEMBER has been notified that the bldg. even HAS a problem ...I know because I GO THERE weekly and see the things going on. if i could give a MINUS rating, i would.
Although most of the nurses are very helpful, very rarely are they prompt with helping a patient with a urostomy. There have been several times when my bag has needed to be changed, and I have had to wait 4 or 5 hours to get it changed. Anyone who has a urostomy or knows someone who has one that urine on the skin is like battery acid to a car battery. It eats at Askin and can cause severe infection. When it comes to prompt service, I give Brookshire Nursing Home an "F"Also the miscommunication between the CNA's is very poor. First shift can take a patient out of bed right before shift change, and five minutes later another CNA from another shift is bringing the patient back to pit her back to bed.
this place is awful it should be named brookshire abuse and neglect center patients are left unattended unsecured in there chairs to fall out of all bruises r explained by blood draws in areas that blood draws should not be done if person has good veins . please go and look at all patients before placing ur loved ones here they will be fine as long as they can take care of themselves but when they loose that ability they have no help

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
