Dr. Kristin was very nice and so was her assistant. I felt like I received a thorough eye exam, and it put my mind at ease that there was nothing serious that could be determined in the eyes itself. I knew one of the services I received was out of pocket, and I was prepared to pay for it. However, when I went to check out, they charge me also for REFRACTION service. Well as you know there is no eye exam without the refraction service, otherwise how can you determine the prescription for the glasses. I had already verified through this place and my insurance there was no copay and my insurance covers full service eye exam which REFRACTION is part of the coverage. I called them back to let them know, so they can credit my account, they said they would once the insurance company pays they will reimburse me. I was like wait are you telling me even though I have insurance, I'm expected to pay out of pocket then you file and then send me my money back. So even though I like the doctor, I doubt I will be returning if this is office practice. Usually you pay a copay IF you have one and for added services outside the normal full covered exam, otherwise they just bill the insurance company and send you a bill if indeed something wasn't covered. On Medicare I'm on a fixed income, I don't have money for a doctor office to "hold" on to until the insurance pay them. So I let my carrier know their practices and the patient need to be informed before appointment or the associates at UHC need to recommend a better provider who takes their insurance at face value. United Healthcare is one of the best paying Medicare providers, so this should not be a problem that fall back on the patient.
I transitioned from her father when she joined the firm and have been very pleased. My wife still sees Bill. All issues and concerns are dealt with with professionalism. (Sorry, can't help office staff scheduling issues - other review. Has no bearing on skills and ability.) Emergency appointments upon Macular Degeneration onset were easily accommodated and resulted in an expert referral.
I had my normal eye exam with Dr. Sullins yesterday. Ariel, a technician, saw me first and scanned, assessed, and prepped my eyes for the exam. She was thorough and friendly, and the equipment was sanitized before and after my scans/assessments. Dr. Sullins was friendly and professional during my exam as well. She took time to answer my questions and make suggestions. Steven helped me order glasses and was friendly and professional as well. I will continue using that practice and Dr. Sullins.
She is very knowledgeable and took her time with me.
Do not go here. Very poor attitudes, they don't sanitize equipment unless you call them out. I spoke to the office manager about my concerns. All she did was argue with me calling me a liar. The manager did not listen and did not care about my concerns. Go somewhere else.
I saw Dr. Kristin Sullins a year ago with my 9 year-old daughter and our experience with her left so much to desire for that I decided to write a review. We were new to the practice and new to the Huntsville area and I can honestly say that Dr. Sullins` bedside manner was one of the worst I have ever encountered in my life. Not only did she not take any time whatsoever to make a connection with my daughter (I am thinking of striking up a short conversation with a young girl simply to put her at ease with the visit....nothing extra. :-) but she was also rushing through the whole exam. I wear glasses myself and I have been to many eye care visits so I know how much time it takes to do the whole exam. She was talking way too fast and she was flipping the lenses for my daugher even faster- to the point where I was actually getting worried about the accuracy of the whole test. Add to that the little headset that she was using to talk to her assistant and you have a concerned mom who is not sure her daughter is getting the best possible care. Finally, when she walked us over to the store to get our prescription, she turned around so fast and abandoned us there without a word or any sort of "hey, good-bye, nice to have met you!". If you are okay with just being a “number” with the doctor you are seeing, she might be right for you. If you, like myself, are looking for a doctor who sees you as a person with a medical need and has interest and compassion for you, then look further. She might have great medical knowledge but definitely lacks in the area of bedside manners.
Apparently when you schedule an appointment you may or may not actually be scheduled. Took the day off to take my son for fitting his contacts and was told he wasn’t on the schedule and they would not work him in. I would have to make another appointment.
Good professional clinic
Been a patient of this office for 25 years. They always make time in a busy schedule to fit me in when I am having an eye/vision related issue,. Always professional and available (on-call) after hours and even holidays. Even with other optometrists much closer, I will continue to travel from Madison to see Dr. Sullins for these reasons!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
