List of David Hopper's Reviews
If I could give him no stars I would. I originally was a patient with Dr. Emerson and due to his retirement, we began seeing Dr. Hopper. We heard about his subpar bedside manner, but decided to form our own opinion. I was going to see Dr. Hopper for a regular check up visit and speak with him in regard to my postpartum depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. The entire appointment I was trying to fight back tears. I would try and say something and he held his hand up insinuating that I need to stop talking. I was expressing concerns that my medication wasn’t working and I needed help. I told him I didn’t think he was hearing what I was saying. He slams his hands on his desk and rolls his eyes at me. He also told me that he couldn’t help with what I needed and if I had a panic attack I needed to go to the emergency room. Yes, you read that correctly. The amount and depth of aftercare for a mother postpartum is alarming and it’s no wonder the suicide rates are so high. No one is listening. I will no longer be seeing him as a general physician and I am currently seeking resources for the other postpartum areas I need help with. I understand that might not be his area of expertise, but the tone and manner of which he handled the situation was terrible and disturbing. It’s not about what you say, but how you say it and offering other avenues or resources are solutions as well. I also would not have let a patient as hysterical as myself, clearly in distress and divulging that I need help for my mental health, leave or not check on me as they did. I can’t imagine if I was a different person in a darker place what would have or could have happened. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. He’s misogynistic and only likes to hear himself talk. Do better.
I do not know anything about Dr. Hopper or the other doctors; however, his phone staff was Rude and Unprofessional. Very disappointed!
Recently visited for the second time in 6 months concerning some very common and treatable symptoms and was made to feel like a nuisance by the Dr. himself. I was basically forced to give him my best guess as to what ailment I need treatment for and all he did was berate me for my suggestion, giving absolutely no useful insights as to what could truly be the issue. His tone and demeanor was that of an overgrown bully, while he prided himself on being a Meat-N-Potatoes kind of Dr.? Wasted time!
Dr. Hopper is a great doctor. He is kind and listens to what you say. Dr. Hopper is very knowledgeable and tries to help you get better. He also keeps a close watch on his patients for any thing that's going on that needs to be checked. Dr. Hopper reminds me of the old school doctors that actually care about the person and their feelings. I don't believe you will find a better doctor.
Dr.Hopper, referred me to a neurologist in B'ham after his findings i had mini strokes. I will always be thankful to him for helping to save my life.
I have known Dr. Hopper for many years, he is both a caring person and doctor. His office staff on the other hand needs some sensitivity traning.
very caring
very proffessional and knowledgeable he has operated on me several times.
Myself and my family have used Dr. David Hopper for many (over 10) years, we travel over 13 miles (one way) to use him. He has never disappointed us. Where as it takes two or more trips to a local facility to get the same results. He has a knowledgable staff and the waiting time is not excessive.
On Sat. @ 0830 Dec.9, '06 we called dr. hopper in a time of crisis when my wife Sharon A. Coalson was experiencing an "episode" and held her head and said "help me". I called hopper and spoke with the receptionist and repeatedly begged to speak with dr. hopper.. he refused to talk with us even tho I explained we have a crisis. My wife committed suicide on dec. 11, '06. Doctors have a moral responsibility to help those in crisis, they take the Hippocratic Oath and are sworn to help those in distress and who are hurting. We were refused when we needed help.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
