Dr. Gerhardt lacks all professionalism and apparently any basic understanding of orthopedic issues. He'd have you believe emotional trauma is what makes your bone spurs and herniated discs seem painful. Emotional trauma does not cause bone spurs. Anyone with 3 brain cells or access to Google can verify. There are better doctors in Birmingham. Don't waste your time with Dr. Gerhardt.

Dr Gerhardt was very personable, calming, took time to answer any questions I had and did a remarkable job on my knee replacement. The scar was quite small and many nurses in the hospital commented on it saying he was known for that. I have no complaints about his excellent care. His office staff were warm and easy to contact and work with.

Dr. Gerhardt changed my life. I had had long term knee pain and had been losing mobility. He was very professional and explained my options thoroughly to me. I never felt pressured and was happy that his approach was conservatively minded. I did end up going through with knee surgery on both knees. The surgery went as planned, the post care and followup was thorough and I never doubted I was in good hands. 6 months later I feel like a new person and don't wince every time I look at a staircase.
