List of Kathleen Essel's Reviews
I just had a GREAT experience as a patient of Dr Essel, it was my 1st time meeting her. She has such a profound way of understanding her field of medicine & how to connect with a patient's needs/sensitivities, she is a major asset to Promedica!! She took the time to carefully examine my charts/imaging/labs, then asked the right questions to find the source of the problems vs surface symptoms. She was in no hurry to do surgery after examining evidence 1st. Though I do appreciate the expediency of the 1st Gyno in addressing potential cancer risk & how quickly I was referred and seen by a specialist such as Dr Essel. I felt comforted & more confident in my future knowing Im in her care.
A C125 test was ordered after having extreme pain back in Nov. 2018. The numbers came back high, and I was sent to OU on the assumption of having possible ovarian cancer. After the Laparoscopy in December 2018, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Endometriosis in January 2019. Dr. Essel and I went through a lot of different options to either slow down the growing of both the cysts, or tried shrinking. When nothing worked, we finally decided that it was time for a full hysterectomy. She was trying to dodge this because I'm 29. She was concerned I would regret it. She was very caring on every appointment I ever made with her (and there was not on my end). Once I had the hysterectomy that she preformed, she was able to tell me that she got all of the the endo out of my body. She's an amazing doctor. If time was reversed, and I knew about the present, I'd choose her in a heartbeat. (If you are reading this, I don't regret it).

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
