Scheduled an appointment to see Dr. Welsh for a shoulder injury and was turfed to the PA who reviewed the x-ray images and indicated that I would need to schedule an MRI. She also informed me that someone would call me later that day with the name of a facility that could perform the MRI under sedation. After waiting a week for a call, I contacted the office to investigate and was told that they were still waiting for pre-authorization from the insurance company. After another week passed, I called the insurance company and learned that the office never submitted a pre-authorization request. So, after enduring two weeks of acute pain, I'm back to square one and having to start all over again by finding another orthopedic surgeon. For all I know, Dr. Welsh might be a world class surgeon; unfortunately, his office staff is rather less than adequate.

I can't say enough to express my appreciation and gratitude for Dr. Welsh. I had a painful medial meniscus tear and Dr. Welsh did an excellent job cleaning it up surgically...beyond my expectations. He also found a smaller lateral meniscus tear while in there and cleaned it up also. He is very competent at what he does and also is genuinely concerned about his patients and really explains things well. He went over the MRI very thoroughly, not only once, but a second time the day of the surgery. He's an angel as far as I am concerned.

I am a retired RN with experience in patients recovering post orthopedic surgeries.  I have seen Dr Welsh on 2 separate situations, for Knee surgery several yers ago that went extremely well and continues to do great.  Then last year when we had the freak snow storm I fell on the ice and fractured my wrist- he was extremely conservative an allowed the fracture to heal on it own as it did not require surgery.  Let me tell you I have never experienced such a compassionate and caring surgeon that treats you like one of his family members and puts your best interest before the money.  He has the best bedside manner.  I have seen many Physicians in my 30 years of nursing and he is definitely at the top!!!  I not only highly recommend him I would encourage you to look no further as you could not find a more qualified surgeon and wonderful human being.

Dr. Welsh never pressured me to accept any treatment. However, he clearly explained each procedure and told me what to expect.

I use to work with Dr.Welsh in Tampa Florida he also did a couple surgeries on my knee. He's not only a amazing Doctor but also an amazing person. I was his Secretary/Medical Assistant when he started his clinic.

I am very happy that my GP referred me to Dr. Scott Welsh for my shoulder surgery (shoulder arthroscopy w/ bicep tenodesis).  Pre-sugery, Dr. Welsh did a great job explaining my treatment options.  Tried the physical therapy route for a while first but that did not resolve the issues so I decided to have surgery.  On the day of surgery, everything was well orchestrated and smooth.  I am now in post-op physical therapy and so far so good!  I highly recommend Dr. Welsh.

Dr. Welsh is amazing Orthopedic Surgeon! I have been a patient of his for over 4 years now. If you want honesty, patience and a highly educated surgeon with over the top experience, this is the man! Dr Welsh and his staff at Arise Medical Center in Rollingwood / Austin, are the best! This location has that very comfortable feel to it! Sincerely Kathy H.

I saw three orthopedic surgeons about my knee. Dr. Welsh stands head and shoulders above all. He took so much time to explain each x-ray to me in detail, he answered all my questions, he was kind, he took my pain seriously, and he clearly explained all of my options. What a wonderful doctor.

I am a retired OR RN from a world class hospital in another state. I went there today after a visit to an ER yesterday with severe shoulder pain. The ER took no x-rays and sent me home with pain meds and told me to go to an ortho doc. They were nice enough but the care was quite incomplete. I chose to come to DOC hoping I could get a definitive diagnosis, appropriate testing, treatment and instructions. DOC delivered all of the above professionally, patiently, timely and gave me superb instructions and  a follow up appointment in a few days. I couldn't ask for more. I am so pleased I read all of these honest and glowing reviews because they certainly lived up to and exceeded my expectations. I will recommend them to everyone I know. just wow. Thank you all for superb and gentle service with a sense of humor.
