I moved to the Fort Smith area when I was 5 months pregnant and was immediately recommended to Dr. McClanahan. I wouldn’t recommend him or Mercy OB/GYN to my most hated enemy. My care was not taken seriously at this office at all. I apparently had gestational diabetes which I did not find out until I had my baby who had blood sugar issues and ended up staying in the NICU. This was my first baby so I had no idea what that meant for me or my baby and no one bothered to explain it to me until post-birth. At my 6-week check up, I was given a Pap smear which came back with abnormal cells (I had to google that part) but no one from the office called to go over the results with me. When I did call to get a colposcopy scheduled at the recommendation of the health department, I mentioned that I didn’t want to use Dr. McClanahan if at all possible and was essentially told that I needed to find a different office. The practice manager was supposed to call me months ago to explain why no one followed up on my Pap smear but go figure, no one called. I’m so disappointed with this office because on the other hand of all this, the labor and delivery wing is phenomenal. I had a wonderful birth experience thanks to my nurses who explained everything to me from the epidural to the effects of my gestational diabetes. Please, if nothing else, do better for your current and future patients. As for me, I will never use this office again.
Please, just go to any other hospital if it is available. I attended Mercy Clinic Women's Health located within Mercy Hospital Fort Smith, AR on three occasions spanning the end of May to early June for my pregnancy. I immediately saw it was overcrowded, disorganized, and unfamiliar with private insurance. I quickly transferred my care to a different hospital. In that time my SS card with my married name arrived and insurance updated my insurance card. Ultimately, Mercy submitted my claim way after my date of service and never let me know in writing that my claim was denied because insurance updated my maiden name to my married name. When I reached out to update my name with Mercy and have the claim resubmitted, they told me they had corrected everything. This happened THREE times. In the end, they told me their mistakes did not matter nor did their lack of communication and I would owe the full amount because it was “too late” to resubmit the claim under my married name. I actively reached out to Mercy, repeatedly, trying to settle my bill because of their lack of communication and slow claim filing. In the end I just had them send it to collections. They lost potential money from me and my insurance company due to incompetence.
If I can give 0. I would, I leave the message for the nurse to call me back yesterday about the issue I'm having a week now with my pregnancy but she never calls back. Her name is Lacey. I waited for her for a whole day to call me back finally I decided to call them again, then the receptionist said I have to wait for 24 hrs to get her response (receptionist name is Nicole) I can't understand when my husband called them, they always respond so quickly when I did it they never call me back. I always treated them nice, but they treated me so badly. I feel it is racist because I am Filipino. It doesn't matter if I am Asian or Not more important they should care their clients because I am paying them like other people here. Anyway, they showed they don't care their clients because of that I left Mercy. POOR SERVICE.
Dr. Phillips is truly the best! I went through a high risk pregnancy with him and I couldn't have asked for a better OB! Thank you for all that you do!! You are amazing!
My whole pregnancy was fantastic. He is a great doctor.
Such poor directions to this facility that after 30 minutes, we officially give up even finding it.
I LOVE my doctor. I hate this place. I gave birth 7 yrs ago at Saint Francis in Tulsa, so maybe my opinion is super biased, but anytime I was there- I never had any issues. This place? You show up 15 minutes early to a SCHEDULED appointment and you'll be waiting an hour to be seen. I sat on a video call for an HOUR from appointment time to when the video chat app disconnected me and got no response. I called the office (you'll usually be on hold for a good 5-10 minutes before someone answers) and during that time, my doc finally got in touch with me. Now, I schedule time off to go to doc appointments and it really just boils my blood when I've got to sit and wait for so long every single appointment. If it weren't for my doctor, I would've found a different hospital, or just made the 2 and a half hour drive back to Tulsa by now. Might still do it as I'm coming up in my last trimester and can't afford to take off so much time ever couple of weeks for a checkup.
Dr. Riche was helpful but....on my second visit he tore into me for my weight gain (yeah. I understand fully that that’s my fault.) and I ended up leaving his office in tears and really hating myself, just.....really feeling horrible about myself. Having worked in the medical field for five years, I understand the importance of following the doctors plan laid out for you. My fault. But he was straight up mean.
Doctor Phillips rectified my initial concerns. Four stars.
Went here for my first pregnancy. My OBGYN was very rude to my mother-in-law and my husband and made very rude and hurtful comments about my pregnancy and I ended up almost dying due to complications. Now I'm trying to transfer to a new doctor and apparently "my doctor almost let me die" isn't reasonable enough to be transferred. First call it was okay to transfer. Get a call back and I am told I'm not allowed to. Call back again to get a different doctor and she said the manager would call me back. Next afternoon, still no call from the manager. Call again, tell them why I want to switch, she says okay, I'll get a hold of your new doctor. Then the next day is when I finally get a call from the manager. I call back at 2 PM and the office is closed, even though it says on your website and Google that the office is open till 5pm. I am going to a different hospital after this. I've had enough of the lack of communication between the staff and my experience last time.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
