I had my center knuckle on my left hand replaced and my thumb pinned. This was a Year ago . Thanks to Charles and his Great staff my hand is in very good shape, and you would have to look very close to see any scarring. I am extremely pleased.

I had reverse shoulder replacement in February 2023. Dr. Varela did a wonderful job! I didn’t feel bad after my surgery so I went home the same day! And he did the incision in the fold of my arm and it isn’t even noticeable! It has been a month and a half since my surgery and I am doing things with my arm that I haven’t been able to do in years! We are so blessed for such a small town to have a wonderful doctor like Dr. Varela!

One year ago Dr. Varela replaced the middle knuckle and pinned my thumb on my left hand. Thanks to Charles and his Great Staff, I am Pain free, and have Total use of my left hand. I had pain in my left hand for sometime. He diagnosed me with bone on bone issue's and said that he could fix it up for me. So that's just what they did. Also I have Very Little Scaring. Therefore I am very happy with the White River Orthopedic Group.

Before I post I want to say I like Dr Varela, but am very disappointed after my visit today. I have Dupuytren's contracture in both hands and have had three surgeries. The first two went very well, but the third one we done something different. This time it was Needle Aponeurotomy to straighten my left ring finger. I ended up with a damaged tendon and can no longer bend the first joint below the fingernail, so my finger is stiff and can't make a fist. As I am a guitar player this is not acceptable to me. He told me there was really nothing that can be done and I should try to live with it. My advice is do not have this procedure done.

I don't know if you remember me but I finally got my knee fixed I had a lot of outpocket money in three years and you did not after my knee went south and nobody even called to see if I was doing

Great surgeon, great staff!

I had arthrosis of the DIP joint of the left index finger (that is inserting a screw into the bone in my index finger) 1/11/2022. The nurse asked what pharmacy I used. I told her Wal-Mart in Ash Flat, When I went to pick up the med. I was told (by Wal-Mat) they were out of that particular med and been for some time. I called r Varela's office to tell him and his ARNP about the situation. I was told to elevate my hand, on an ice pack and take Tylenol and alternate with Ibuprofen. I told her I had ben doing all of the above with no relief. I gave her the name, phone number and location of another pharmacy, I called this pharmacy to see if the order was ready, it has not been called in, I called the Dr office again 2nd day post-op and left a message. NO return call and no prescription filled. Luckily I had 4 pain pills left from a rotator cuff repair I gad done last Dec. These and Tylenol got me through the 1st 24 hrs. (the worst pain). Dr Varela is an excellent surgeon and compassionate person however office staff and ARNP have not experienced any type of bone surgeries, otherwise they would have understood how crucial pain intervention is 24-36 hours after the surgeries. rNP

I spent an hour getting there and paid to be seen 10 minutes by this doctor telling me he don’t see a problem with me and to get a second opinion and a smoke some weed for pain I have a badly damaged left hand most has been amputated now I have bad arthritis and nerve damage and every doctor I have seen prior was shocked condition of my hand and this doctor told me even a MRI or X-ray wasn’t needed and it’s the first thing other doctors wanted maybe a God blessing this surgeon didn’t touch me

Dr. Varela performed rotator cuff repair and also sutured a muscle to a tendon. I expected my pain to be 7-10 the first week. Unbelievably my pain has been 0-4 most of the time since after the 2nd day. I was really dreading the surgery because of the pain. Thanks to Dr. Varela my pain hasn't been a problem. Praise the Lord!! Thanks so much! Your tremendous ability is much appreciated!!
