I would recommend Dr.Akins to anyone needing knee replacement, He did mine on February 8,2023, and I’m super pleased!! No big ugly scare and my knee is doing great, you wouldn’t think a small town like Mt View Arkansas would have such a great orthopedic doctor, but he’s great!!

Very nice, straight to the point,attends very quickly when needed,and does a GREAT AND VERY PERFESIONAL JOB..and his employees are very nice ,and polite !!!!!!!!!over all ,Dr. Atkins is a 10

Dr Akins has been great throughout my care, once he realized the surgery had to be done. That said, I DO NOT recommend anyone having surgery on their rotator cuff. This has been the worst surgery including even my C-Section I had with my twins! Ugh! But if you must have it, go to Dr Akins. He will help you through it! Thanks, Dr Akins!

Yes, promptly seen at Salem Clinic; Dr Akins looked at x-rays, explaining to me my situation and we discussed an MRI which is being scheduled. I feel confident in his care. Efficient, kind office staff

I saw Dr. Akins for shoulder pain. He was very thorough and tried injections and physical therapy. He finally recommended rotator cuff repair. I am now pain free and am very pleased. He was very approachable and always made time to answer all my questions. Great bedside manner and I highly recommend him.

Dr. Akins has performed surgeries on both my wife and my grandmother in the last year. He is very helpful and did a great job explaining the process and his/our plan going forward post surgery. I am a 71 yr old Vietnam veteran who is disabled. Last month I went to see Dr. Aikins because I was in extreme pain and unable to walk without crutches. I told him for several months my left knee ( which had a total knee replacement done 2 yrs previously ) was causing me great pain. I suffer from PTSD and one night during one of my reoccurring nightmares about Vietnam I had jumped out of bed and I believe injured that left knee replacement. He felt my knee and moved it up and down a few times and said everything was normal and there was no reason for me to be experiencing any pain. I couldnt believe what I was hearing and got extremely angry. I asked him if he thought it was all in my head ? He wouldnt even order any new xrays. He looked at an older Xray I had taken at the local hospital a few months earlier and told me everything looked normal. I had to beg him to a least take some blood test to see if I had an infection. I was really raising my voice in his office because I had came to him for help and all he did was walk out of the office. His nurse came in to tell my my appt. was over and to go next door for the blood test and they would call me back with the results. I went to the hospital to have my blood drawn and after a few days I called his office for the results. They told me the Doctor had to go over the results with me personally and he would call me back. Well, he NEVER called me. I had to suffer 3 more weeks of pain waiting on a appt with another orthopedic doctor because I would NEVER go back to Aikins ( I choose not to call him a doctor ). At that appt. the doctor in Mountain Home took 2 xrays ( front and side ) and told me immediately you must be in a great deal of pain because your knee replacement has loosened and you will need revision surgery. I told him about my problem going to another doctor previously and he said he couldnt imagine a doctor not recognizing the problem. I will have surgery on Dec 10th and hopefully I will be able to walk again and this extremely painful ordeal will be over.. I am still very angry with Aikins and upset with his incompetence and lack of compassion. Roy Barnard
