I have been in the medical field for over 50 years and I moved from California to Arkansas about eight months ago and my hand was driving me crazy I. E. My phone, dropping everything, etc. and I schedule an appointment to see Dr. Chen and went through the rounds of Cortizone injections which helped a lot at the beginning and then just tapered off so now I go for surgery, but I’m not worried about it and Dr. Chan is very comforting and is a tell it like it is Dr., which is the only kind I like. He’s a great guy, great bedside manner, and so far a great all around hand doctor.
Receptionist staff very rude about appointments. It doesn’t matter that you are an existing patient with pain and swelling. Appointments are always weeks out and I’m not talking about follow ups. They don’t try or offer to work you in, and when you ask, they seem very annoyed. I guess unusual pain and swelling is not concerning to them 6-14-22 emailed like requested. still waiting for that “reach out”
I fell the day after Christmas and my right ankle went left and calf went right. All dox that walked by and saw my x-rays said nearly. I said I was miss narly. They were amazed I was making jokes and laughing instead of screaming. Dr. Chen had to calm me down from a panic attack when they had t I put the iv in my neck to knock me out and calmed me down about cutting my brand new pj pants off. First time I had worn them. He is very caring and passionate about his patients. I lucked out. I never screamed just the two panic attacks. I think I did pretty good too. I have had 3 casts and now a wheelchair and walker and a rocker boot.
Have seen Dr. Chen twice for injections into my thumb. I had heard that they were very painful so was dreading it. I was amazed that the injections were basically painless! Wow! He was super nice as well and all of the staff were great!
Dr. Chen was the on call Ortho when my husband broke his collar bone in half on a Saturday night. He didn't want to come in and look at my husband and we have no idea if he even looked at the X-rays. His response (via the PA who was in the ER) was you might need surgery call my office Monday to set something up. My husband was in so much pain and could feel the bone continually moving but we waited and called first thing Monday morning. The staff told us Dr. Chen was in surgery and would call us ASAP. We called back a few hours later asking for some timing on when he could be seen because he was in so much pain and the staff was obviously annoyed and assured us we would be called very shortly. Well three days later we still haven't heard from them. Finally we started calling around to find another surgeon to see my husband. We are here on vacation and are limited in our understanding of the area and have limited time before we need to leave. We explained our situation to Dr. Chen's staff and the ER and neither seemed to care.
After getting injections from Dr Chen my thumbs were pain free. Friendly staff and was able to see him rather quickly. Sensitive to my needs and concerns.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
