I saw Dr Perna this morning Nov. 16. His nurse was very cordial while taking my vitals. Dr Perna came into the room within five minutes and asked a lot of questions and told me about some different options that I have. He was very nice and extremely thorough. I am very happy that I was referred to him.

I would not recommend this provider or his nurse. They are very disrespectful, do not communicate well and they simply do not care. It is hard to believe that a bariatric program could make you feel worse about yourself but this group does. Beware

I would not recommend this bariatric program or provider. I did not think a bariatric patient would a person feel even worse about themselves after finally taking the steps to get help. Do yourself a favor and go to another doctor that provides compassionate care and avoid this one.

Very disappointed on this Mercy provider. His approach was very unprofessional as well as his nurse behavior. I was treated in a very disrespectful way by him and his nurse. I should have canceled the surgery. So be aware of this provider. I definitely do not recommend. I did contact Mercy vía email on July 1st, I did leave my contact information, it has been more than a month with no answer whatsoever, nothing, not even an email of acknowledgment. Did I say disappointing?

Nearly everyone I meet speaks of Dr. Perna in such glowing terms. I do not understand why. My experience with him and his staff has been terrible. I have seen him once, at my first appointment. I have not seen him since, only his physicians assistant, nurse, and bariatric program coordinator (who I think absolutely hates me). I am seriously considering other doctors at this point but it will mean starting all over again with a different bariatric surgeon. All I can say is do your research before you decide on this particular bariatric program with this doctor.

07/13/17-Saw him today for Bariatric consult-very nice, a bit quiet but humble, meek and gentle. He was focused and careful with his patient history review so as not to miss anything of importance before surgery day.

Dr. Perna was reassuring and positive about my emergency procedure. He eased a great deal of my anxiety. He was definitely on his game and there when I needed him. I highly recommend him to anyone experiencing bariatric issues. I'm not kidding when I say the man saved my life.
