Dr Schwartz is the best Dermatologist I’ve had. I’ve gone to other dermatologists here in Tucson and I just don’t feel that they are as efficient as he is. He is very friendly and knowledgeable. Going to the dermatologist is not a fun event but Dr Schwartz makes you feel relaxed and you know that he cares about you as a patient. I have referred him to many of my clients and friends and they all love him! Also the staff are very nice and helpful. The office is a very Nice and relaxed atmosphere, If I remember right there’s also a refrigerator with a variety of drinks in it for those that are thirsty. Thank you Dr Schwartz for many years of service!
I called the office to verify that they took my insurance. The office gave me a P. A. so could be seen sooner but I requested to see Dr. Sheftel. The P. A. was not contracted with my insurance at that time so I got a bill for hundreds for a 15 min visit. Cathy in billing explained that the P.A. was not contracted at the time so they rebilled with a different doctor ( I believe that is insurance fraud since I did not see that doctor ) and they still did not pay. Cathy stated they have done all they can and I am responsible for the full amount. This clearly sounds like the office lies to get you in or has no clue how to check insurance providers. This office only cares about getting paid and not retaining customers.
I called the office and they confirmed that they accepted my insurance. So I made an appointment. I saw a P.A. who was not contracted with my insurance. So I got billed hundreds for my 15min appt. So I called Cathy in billing. She stated the P.A. was not a provider for my insurance and I was responsible for the full amount. If your looking for an office who only cares about the money you found it.
Dr. Sheftel has been my go to skin doctor for over 25 years. That, in itself, says it all.
Didn't get a feel for the place. Would be nice to find a place that cared for the patient over the all mighty dollar . This place Is not it. Tends to push what they sell that they feel may help you. Was not made to feel that I was a person as opposed to a bank account.
The staff seems competent but this place emphasizes cosmetic “skin deep” treatments and product$ versus whole health. It’s your typical “medicine” for profit scenario. Good for shallow yuppies who inhabit that part of town, I suppose.
Followup to my earlier posts. My PCP now understands the problems and will not refer patients to this company. He now recommends Foothills Dermatology and I find both the office staff and the medical professionals to be outstanding. THEIR course of treatment was not only effective but much less expensive. Everything I'd originally hoped for from Sheftel's group....but...ya got to give Sheftel credit....they made over $1000 from my insurance (about $700 per hour) and still want more from ME. NOT going to get it...but they don't care....there's lots of suckers out there so they can continue as they are and never run out of new victims.
Dr. Scheftel was fine, if you can get in to see him. My follow up appt. for a basal cell lesion was cancelled by the office, and it was difficult to reschedule. Wait times are long, both in the office and actually getting the appt. It's a big, busy practice and it feels like it as a client. Their front office people feel automated. I'm finding another provider...the hassle is not worth it to me.
Thank you, Kathleen, for detecting a small melanoma on my face. I admire your clinical skills in detecting a small boo- boo!
Dr Sheftel and his office help are wonderful. The front desk is aways kind and inviting to their office. I have been going for about 15 years and i just love the entire crew. So good at what they do. Anya the nurse practitioner is whom I usually see now and she too is just awsome. Dr. Sheftel is also great to me. I couldn't be more pleased with a Drs. office.
Went to Dr. Sheftel at the Green Valley location a year ago for a skin check & he seemed reasonable enough. Fast forward to this yearhe was rude, made little to no eye contact, & treated me like a vain housewife. Not sure what his problem is, but I will NOT be back.
Dr Sheftel provides the highest and most professional level of care. I recommend him highly.
I have been going to Dr. Sheftel for more than 15 years and there is not a doctor I could speak more highly about! His medical expertise is second to none and his office demeanor really makes you feel like a special person. Both my mom and aunt see Dr. Sheftel regularly as well and I just want to mention the extraordinary care he provided to my mom a couple years ago. She had a spot on her scalp that initially came back negative, but Dr. Sheftel wasn't satisfied with the lab's analysis, so he took another sample that was retested and the result was positive. Dr. Sheftel then did the surgery to remove the cancerous cells and there hasn't been a reoccurrence since. Dr. Sheftel has gone above and beyond multiple times as it relates to my care and my family's and I would give him 6 stars if that was an option.
Had 3 areas cut off and tested for possible skin cancer 17 days ago. Have not received a call back with results, have called and left 2 messages, still no response. They must be to busy to handle patient load!
Terrible. I asked to see a physician...was given a nurse instead (although Sheftel Associates billed my insurance company for a doctor's services, and I also paid a co-pay.My knee is infected. Your nurse cut off a slice to see if it was cancerous on Feb. 2, 2016. I received a call about a week later that the biopsy showed no cancer. But I have a nasty, infected knee and when I called today to see a doctor I was told the only opening was for 11:10 a.m. (when I have an appt. with my primary care doctor at 11:30 so can't make it)and was told by a Stephanie there were no other openings!!!!I am contacting the medical board for dermatologists about the horrible care I've received, and am also contacting my Chase card services to have the co-pay I paid NOT kept by Sheftel Associates since you did me more harm than good. Am sure you were paid a lot by my Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance...
I have been a patient of Dr Sheftel and Associates for the past 20 years. In my opinion Dr Sheftel is very competent, caring and sensitive to patient needs. Furthermore, I feel very comfortable going to other staff members when skin issues become an immediate need. I highly recommend Sheftel and associates without reservations.
Care & Treatment was excellent, I had dr? Zeck, ASSoc. Also am going to Dr. Chen. Fortunate to have the care & skills of the networK
Excellent would refer anyone
All the staff is very friendly when I visit.
Horrible customer service! When I walked in the receptionists were chatting away, not acknowledging a patient had approached them, I had to interrupt them and say I had an appointment. They rudely handled me the paper work, and went back to talking.

The doctor was SO arrogant, he interrupted me, didn't listen when I was telling him my symptoms, checked my skin under my shirt on my neck, chest and back WITHOUT first asking for permission to do so. After that I requested a female doctor or nurse be in the room for the rest of the appointment, which ended quite abruptly after that. I asked about different options for medicine for my condition, and he brushed off my questions, and wrote me a prescription for something he didn't care to explain.

Calling the office back to get a refill for my prescription and asking a few questions the pharmacy needed to know was a nightmare. After explaining who I needed to speak to in the office, I was put on hold for 25 minutes, then finally redirected to the nurse practitioner's answering machine, because she wasn't even in the office that day!

These people treat their clients like crap, don't make an appointment with them.
