There are better around town. It seems that her training is outdated. Was not familiar with new procedures or care that I have heard from other OBs at hospital and RNs. She looked very unkept also.

I had, what turned out to be, a very rare and horrific bacterial infection. Rather than doing further research or running further tests, she dismissed it as a general inflammation. I finally found a doctor who took the time to diagnose me. I will say that Dr. Varela seemed very compassionate and caring though, which was nice. However, when recently I called to get a copy of my records, it turned out she has left the practice with no intention to return (according to the receptionist). I was shocked that there was no communication with her patients. Talk about unprofessional! I don't think she understands how people need to rely on their doctor.

Dr. Varela is extremely committed to her job. She listens to all concerns and makes patients feel comfortable. I have had 2 surgeries with her as the doctor and she has done a great job. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
