I believe my time is just as important as anyone else, while the office and staff were nice it was 45 minutes after my appointment time before I saw the doctor. An appointment time is made so that schedules can be made around them, and that applies to the patient as well, to me this a very rude and unprofessional practice most doctors now do so as to meet their quota to match a bottom line. I will possibly give this physician another opportunity to see if this is a onetime thing or his common practice, if I could give 1/2 stars his rating would be 2 1/2, I believe timeliness is that important.
Very Loud, unshaven, I think he is going deaf. No confidence at all in his skills or techniques. I had Carpel Tunnel Syndrome on my left wrist. Referred out to him from the VA , as he was on their list for surgeons that do this kind of surgery and Tri west who was the referring agency to the VA.Done at Banner Casa Grande Hospital, got up at 3:30 am, arrived at hospital at 4:30 am, prepped for Surgery at 7AM, no food from midnight on, staff at Banner were great, very nice the Doctor who puts you too sleep was fantastic, they said he was running an hour late AS ALWAYS, They said he was a pain in the butt, always screaming at the top of his lungs even if he is standing right next to you! I layed in that recovery room bed TILL 6:30PM for a less that 10 MINUTE PROCEDURE!Next Day changed bandage and found out I had a ROARING STAFF INFECTION, yellow pus pouring out of the incision, call his office and usual got one those VERY RUDE poorly trained "medical assistants" who told me she would have his PA call me, Told Her I was a PA as well and I knew that this was wrong and needed antibiotics ASAP please call in a Script to Walgreens. I then called the VA and they called me in a script to Walgreens which I picked up right away. The infection raged on for 5 days and only after that was to have an appointment with the Doctor, but come to find out it was with his PA who has no professional personality and does not have a clue on what he is doing.I finally got an appointment with Dr. Dr. M, he was very non chalant about the infection, he said "IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME", which I know is BS, it does not! When I contacted Banner they said Dr. M was full of crap, kit was his techniques hat cause these Things! The pain is much worse in my wrist, the scar is terrible, may need plastic surgery to fix this. I am considering a law suit over all this and his terrible techniques and the terrible infection I got, I took picture of all of this and my wrist ozzing yellow pus out!Do not even consider his for your surgery, if you do you are making a BIG MISTAKE!
I am glad I fired you.
This office is X-Ray happy! I'm practically glowing! I've had rotator cuff surgery years ago. Then I was having issues. When I had my rotator cuff surgery, they did an MRI to determine if I needed the surgery or just therapy. This doctor just took xrays and said I needed reverse shoulder replacement surgery. I never heard of it! I was in so much pain I wanted it done. I phoned the doctor's office to schedule the surgery and was told I need to see him 30 days before my surgery. Ok I went to see him, he did nothing in that appointment. Then five days before my surgery I was told I need a physical from my doctor!!!!!!! I started to cry I was so upset! I've been doing things to prepare my husband and dogs for life with an invalid. I didn't think my doctor could fit me in, but she did. No thanks to Matanky's office!! Then two days before surgery I was rescheduled for the next day. Finally had surgery in September. It's been rough. I don't have the use of my rotator cuff, just my bicep and deltoid. I wish I'd have gotten a second opinion. Oh yes, I forgot to mention the day of surgery I had to get up at 3:30 a.m. to have my surgery at 6:30 a.m. The pre-op nurse and anesthesiologist both told me Dr Matanky would be 45 minutes late! They said he is ALWAYS 45 minutes late! They weren't happy about it and neither was I. My follow-up appointments, he told me to NOT reach behind my back as I could dislocate my shoulder. My last follow-up appointment, he asked how high I can reach behind my back!!!! He also couldn't find papers showing the exercises I needed to be doing. My physical therapist and I had to get my exercises off the internet! I wish I'd gotten a second opinion! I am sorry I ever allowed this surgery to be done on my shoulder.
Little over two years ago I got my humerus bone at my shoulder broken in 5 places. Dr. Matanky didn't push sugery on me but said later it's something I might want too do too get all the movement back in my arm. No surgery and I'm 99% good as new. Thank you Dr. Matanky for letting me decide instead of pushing surgery.
Dr. Matanky himself is great to work with and very straight forward. Some of his staff is great as well, but there are a few that seem to be less caring and do not understand all the workings of the practice. I just had scope surgery on my shoulder, everything went great and the staff was wonderful through the entire procedure. The bad part... my designated care taker did not perform so great and now I am waiting for a call back from the doctor's office to confirm what I can't remember.
Dr Matanky took xrays on my knee and said that I needed knee surgery. As the day got closer, I decided to cancel the surgery and get another opinion. As it turns out, the problem was not my knee, it was my hip. Don't go to this guy.
Dr is excellent although his staff receptionist (scheduling) is very unfriendly, snotty, makes one feel unwelcomed. NOTE: DR IS EXCELLENT RECEPTIONIST STAFF: VERY UNFRIENDLY
I've been a patient of Dr. Matanky's for 17 years and I have always trusted his diagnosis and treatment plans. His office staff, on the other hand, have increasingly left much to be desired over the years. I made an appointment and updated my insurance info with the receptionist. 5 days later I show up for the appointment only to be told "oh, we're not contracted with THAT policy." Incredibly frustrating. There are other details that add to the frustration but I have limited character space.
went for broken collarbone. Was told to see orthopedic surgeon ASAP. I check healthgrades to see backgrounds & ratings. I called to make an appt. for Dr. Matanky. When I got to the exam room I met a girl that I thought was his nurse, IT WAS NOT She was a PA. I told her my appt. was with Dr. Matanky, I waited many days because he has 34 yrs. experience. He not here today. The receptionist did not say PA. She said he would look at my xray & call. He did NOT, she called & he agree with her.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
