List of Banner Surgery Center - Union Hills's Reviews
I had sugery on 2/21/22 for hardware removal. I had a exceptional experience from start to finish. The check in was easy and convenient. The staff in the preop & recovery were outstanding. They were attentive, caring, and professional. My surgery was preformed before the scheduled time, because I arrived early. My prescriptions were called in ahead of time and were ready for pick up on the way home. I have deep respect for my surgeon, Dr Micheal Rose, he kept me in motion after a hip fracture, and listened to me when I wanted the hardware removed. He has a wonderful bedside manner and is a master of his craft. As for the Dr that preformed my anesthesia, sorry I can't recall his name, he was so good. ;) I woke up alert and not vomiting. Ready to get dressed and go home.I would highly recommend Banner Union Hills Surgery Center. Clean, professional, friendly, efficient, well run site. The staff is exceptional and made my experience as pleasant as one could hope for while having surgery. Thank you.
My surgery was on January 4th, 2021. The team here was excellent and took good care of me. My surgeon was Dr. Michael Rose, he's awesome and I highly recommend him if anyone needs repair on their shoulders for calcific tendinitis and rotator cuff repair.
Took my husband there today. Very friendly staff helped him get checked in.He was taken back pretty much on scheduled time. His surgery was also on time. Dr. Brown called me immediately after and went over everything He is not only a wonderful surgeon but talks "to" you not down at you and he's so kind.Soon after one of the girls taking care of my husband called and discussed every discharge detail with me. And she was so friendly. She brought him out and helped him in the car. And such a pleasant person.. My husband said they all treated him so kind and also very professional. He was treated with kindness and respect. And the place was extremely clean. Also the time frame was so reasonable. That is awesome. 5 stars to Banner Surgery Center
I enjoy having surgery there because it is clean, everyone from the Receptionist to pre and post op are very caring about your life and health.
I would not recommend CORE to anyone. Although the staff were so kind to me, even after I verbalized my frustration. My husband went in for surgery with Dr Nguyen this morning. On my husband’s first visit (before surgery) he told him about 2 issues in his knee and he needed to have a removal of one part and a repair on the other part. Told him his recovery would be long went into detail about it all, asked if he wanted to do one part or both at the same time. My husband scheduled his surgery for both problems. When the nurses called to schedule we asked if he was scheduled to fix both problems, we were told ‘I think so, but I will verify’ We were told this on 3 separate phone calls. We also asked if my husband would need crutches twice and no one could answer the question. Do we provide them? Do you provide them? We had no idea.Fast forward to this morning. My husband goes in and confirms that he is having both problems fixed. They say he is only scheduled for one and they don’t know if they have the right equipment to do both. When the Dr Nguyen spoke with my husband he told him they were just going to do one of the repairs. My husband explained to him what he told him on the visit that he had and Dr Nguyen said. ‘Oh really? I don’t remember that.’ SO YOU TOLD SOMEONE THEY NEEDED MAJOR SURGERY AFTER READING THEIR MRI AND THEN DAY OF SURGERY DON’T REMEMBER IT AND DECIDE THAT HE ONLY NEEDS ONE SMALL SURGERY. HOW INCOMPETENT ARE YOU?? YOU WERE THE ONE READING THE CHARTS!The Dr called and I had just barely missed the phone. No message was left and they don’t have a phone that anyone answers (tells you this in their VM) so I drove back down there with my kids since my husband was told my the scheduler that I could not wait. I went in and the girls who worked there were super nice. They went back to check on my husband and he was out of surgery. I was very surprised to find there were people in the waiting room for patients to come out of surgery. The rules should be for everyone, not just some. When the Dr spoke with me he was very short and rude. Too bad we looked up his reviews AFTER the surgery. Not very good. Only reason I gave this place two stars is because of how sweet and accommodating the nurses were.
Our experience with the actual procedure was fine, no complaints. The insurance process however has been a nightmare. They collected my deductible upfront after confirming verbally that they were in-network with my plan. Turns out they actually are NOT in network and now have my money. Now I am stuck with multiple bills from other providers because my payment did not actually go toward my deductible and I have no written proof of their mistake. Complete mess. Get everything in writing from them!
Having straight up Medicare, I had no problem insurance wise. The staff was very friendly and informative. Preop and postop nurses were great. The only problem I did see was the first phone call I received they asked me to pay copay over the phone, I stated that I would use my credit card when I arrived for surgery (no problem), I just hate giving credit card info over the phone. The third call I received, the person wanted me to pay the copay over the phone (which I did). Then when I arrived for the surgery, the registrar stated I had a copay to pay and I advised her that I paid the copay over the telephone (which she double checked and admitted I did actually pay). On a positive note, when I paid the copay over the telephone I received a confirmation email stating I paid the copay which I could show the registrar if she stated that I actually did not pay.Be aware, the surgery center will call you approx 4-5 days before surgery to schedule you for a COVID-19 test. I had no problem with that and received an email about where to get tested. One suggestion, It is a very large parking lot with numerous buildings and sub offices. at 6am I was going crazy in the parking lot looking for the correct bldg. Google navigation in the parking lot was useless. When you first enter the parking lot there is a sign directly ahead with a left pointing arrow for Core Institute. That is where I got lost by heading left, the correct bldg is behind the sign with the arrow, LOL.
A recent procedure at the his location was a frighting and painful experience. It did not start well. Upon check in there was a problem with inserting the IV needles. No one came to assist the caregiver no one came to my assistance. Then onto the procedure. I woke during the procedure, to intense pain. My efforts to get assistance, again no one responded. An effort to get some kind of relief, I attempted to move my arm. Suddenly there was movement, swearing, bleeding, and increase in the pain level. Then all went dark. I woke again in the recovery area to intense pain in my arm. Again no assistance to the treat pain. There was swelling and brusing from my fingers up thru my arm. And high pain levels. I later was later informed that the proper level of sedation was not maintained. I'm left with how to get past the fear of this happening in future procedures.
Excellent experience.Very accommodating.Pre-op nurse BethOR nurse RachelAnesthesiologist Deepesh (yes, you were right, Serena bit the dust)Surgeon DamonFelt a little rushed getting out of recovery room (ride was there) but didn’t suffer any consequences.Overall great. Thanks to all.Roxanne
Was really worried about having surgery here after the review I have read. This place was absolutely amazing. The nurses where so great and there for me and answered all my questions. Stephanie was my nurses and went out of her way to make sure I was doing great while I waited for my doctor. Surgery went great and coming out of surgery was as easy as going in. Thank you all for taking great care of me.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
