Philip Koi's Online Review Report Card

We have been trying to reach someone in the office for weeks. We sent multiple emails directly to Dr. Koi through the portal and left 6 messages with the answering service and no one has bothered to get back to us. Patient's do not have access to a direct phone number to the office. You have to call an answering service and no one from the office responds. I have made an appt with a different doctor in hopes of getting the treatment I need or at least some answers regarding my test results. I have never experienced such terrible service and lack of concern from a Dr. and his staff. I have never left a bad review as I think it is something to be used as a last resort but I hope to save someone else the trouble we have had with this office.

I went to Dr. Koi with a urinary issue. He took a urine sample and sent me to an infectious disease doctor. There I was given lots of antibiotics and nothing helped. I called Dr. Koi's office to get some answers. Left 2 messages and no returned calls. I went to another urologist who found the problem by examining me. I have an issue with my anatomy. Dr. Koi never examined me and couldn't back up his findings of infection.

Dr.Koi always listens to what you say and makes sure that you are involved in all decisions made. He also takes the time to explain so that you understand.

I was with Dr Koi for about half a year getting sent to CT scans X-rays and Ultrasounds every other week (FOR HALF A YEAR) because I had calcium kidney stones & passed them every other week sometimes twice a week. He only put me on tamsulosin and that didn’t do anything. So of course I was always in and out of the hospital getting prescriptions for pain meds CONSTANTLY on top of being back and forth to different appointments. Changed doctors and they prescribed me vitamin D3 (absorbs calcium apparently). I haven’t had any pain since & my new doctor didn’t need any scans from me to know exactly how to fix the problem. I may still be passing what was left but I definitely don’t feel it. I’m in my early 20’s so I thought it was weird that I was having (or what I thought) so many kidney problems having been completely fine up until.. maybe this can help younger or even older adults in the same boat.

First, let me preface this by saying my wife is the patient here. Having insurance can be great, when it works. Unfortunately, when the doctor at this office (Koi) opts to use a surgical assistant company that is deemed out of network, forcing us to pay an additional $500 over the $600 we were supposed to pay for the surgery, that's when I question everything about the American healthcare system. I felt like the dominatrix had me bent over and there was no safe word. We did everything right by selecting an in-network Urologist, and through no fault of our own, we get hit for a copay for someone we had no hand in selecting and had no choice but to pay, or else the surgery wouldn't happen. Koi's office didn't bother checking, gave us no heads up this would happen, and then we get a call out of the blue from this company a week before the surgery asking for their piece of the pie. Fast forward to today, and for a process that (per our insurance) we should have only paid $600 for, we have now paid $350 to Dr. Koi's office, $500 to this surgical assistant company, and now $600 to the hospital (which is the only part we should have paid). For those keeping score, that's a total of $1,450 out of pocket for what we only should have paid $600 for.

Dr. Koi has been my Urologist for Prostate Cancer for 6 years , I can say nothing but Great Things about him. He explains Everything in terms I can understand, I Very Highly recommend Dr Koi for the BEST you will find ????

DR. Koi and others are nice. The office is the worst I've been to. Been there with my 93 year old father in law 4 times. We filled the same paperwork out 3 times. Two hours waiting in the exam room first time, hour and a half second time. My wife called with an important health question, waited and hour to leave a voice mail, no call back now for two days. Very poor.
