List of Roscoe S. Nelson's Reviews
Gave the office management a chance to settle this - they stood me up on phone call requests. Giving 1 star due to fact that Dr. and staff make you wait and do not respect your time and they do not provide services rendered. They force you to wait 3 months for an appointment and then when you arrive, another additional hour in the little room just to be told to take a pill and come back in 2 months for more tests. Then I had a VERY BAD reaction to the pill that was prescribed to me, where my entire body was in pain and the doctor was not to be found for consult. I was in severe distress, pain, and was close to going to ER. All I got was NP's saying to stop taking the pill. No follow-up, no advice on taking other meds for pain and no advice on what to do. A doctor and an office who cannot provide me treatment?? I am in the wrong place. Clearly the doctor does not have time or is afraid of something and I lost all confidence in this practice. Do not come here if you can help it.
Dr. Nelson may be one of the top 10 in Arizona, but I am looking for a new urologist for my dad!!!!! The office staff and procedures that are in place, are not professional at all!!!! On Aug. 9, 2022 father's hematology/oncology doctor shared with us that my dad he has a large mass on his right kidney and a small one on his left kidney. She instructed me to get him in to see Dr. Roscoe Nelson STAT!! I drove to his office with a copy of the paperwork that was given to me from the hematology doctor. I shared my concerns and the need to get my dad an appointment ASAP! The girls at the front desk had no passion and did not see the urgency and told me "the next available appointment Dr. Nelson has in on Monday Aug. 24". I told her she was crazy and that I need to get him in sooner!!!! She said "I'm sorry, but that's the best we can do and that they could add my dad onto the cancellation list and call me if there's a cancellation". Since Aug. 9, 2022, I have been calling every day to see if anyone cancelled, no luck! When you call the 602-942-5600 number, you are not calling the office, you're call a freaking call center in another country!!! Anyone you speak to at the call center are foreign.....no one there is American!!!!!!! You never speak directly to anyone at the office! Why can't the girls at the front desk take calls??? The times I have gone in there, all they are doing is either talking or playing on their phones!!!! Again, if Dr. Nelson is "one of the top" urologist, then he needs to get his stuff together and make some changes to the process and staffing that work for him. All of is very frustrating!!!!! On Aug. 17, 2022, I was in the area of Dr. Nelson's office and went in to see if I could make an appointment for my dad. Again, the girl at the counter did not seem to understand my urgency and said " I'm sorry but there is nothing I can do since Dr. Nelson is out of the office for the remainder of the week"!! I understand that appointments need to be made and have been made with other patients, but if there's an urgency and another doctor sends in a report requesting a STAT appointment, you'd think that the staff would bring to the doctors attention and rearrange other appointments to accommodate the request of another doctor!!! Dr. Nelson, teach your staff to read other doctors reports/messages and tell them to bring them to your attention and make arrangements when they see a "STAT" requests that has been sent to you!!!!
this office requires everyone to wear a paper mask? Why? It is July 2022. The CDC have clearly communicated that paper masks are completely worthless. If masks are req, that is fine, but,at least require N95 that have higher probability of preventing airborne transmission of any germ. Asking people to wear a paper mask in July 2022 after all the evidence and clear studied results is more about theatrics than it is about "safety" I will find an urologist team who have sensibility to use common sense.
Dr. Nelson has been treating my husband, Russ, for many years. His expertise, compassion and just overall incredible talent are immense! We truly do not have words adequate to express the gratitude we feel for this amazing doctor. Recently, again, Dr. Nelson provided his expertise on a Sunday afternoon when Russ was hospitalized an hour from the Arrowhead location. Dr. Nelson communicated with the Banner Gateway Emergency physicians to ensure that Russ received the care necessary for the complications of his situation. We have never experienced such profound caring and compassionate attention as Dr. Nelson routinely provides. Whatever negative may have surfaced because of staffing shortages, please know that Dr. Nelson is absolutely worth the diligence sometimes required to maintain communications. Thank you to all the staff who have been so attentive and caring!
Great DR, Absolutely laughable availability. He covers multiple offices in the valley thinking it will help, meanwhile if you cant fit the small hours long availability in one of the many locations hes happens to be in, you dont get an appointment. The place is booked 6 months solid and they are closed on Fridays. Also 70% of my appointments are cancelled by the office. Office staff was a complete cluster f a year or so back and seems to have improved, but the ease of scheduling is still non existent. Good dr, horrible availability, yes for all his other dr and PA staff too, same story. I think there are a total of 3 medical staff in one location. Im shopping around for a new treatment facility. AZU has let me down time after time.
First time patient. All good until the prescription they called in isn't covered by my insurance. So trying to contact doctor to get something different. I was told they would call something in. They called back saying I had to call insurance myself to find something that is covered. First time getting this type of prescription,I no nothing about. Before MICHELLE hung up on me, I was trying to ask more information about the prescription. When trying to call back she was obviously unavailable. Dr.Han and his staff the day of my visit were very nice friendly and helpful
DR Nelson is exceptionally Professional,Listens, and states back to you your concerns! ! ! I would not have anyone else. He is truly a BLESSING ! On a scale of 1- 5, I would rate him a 7. Thank you DR Nelson.
I have know DR NELSON FOR MANY YEARS. HE WAS MY FATHERS UROLOGIST AND HE IS ONE OF BEST ! ONE OF THE TOP PEE DOCS ! AND HAVE COMPLETE SATIFACTION IN HIM. YES U MIGHT HAVE TO WAIT A WHILE BUT ITS WORTH THE WAIT!
Leslie is a very caring, dedicated and knowledgeable nurse. I’d like to complement her for everything she’s done for me. Leslie is an asset to have in any office.
Dr Nelson your staff situation was onlyPart of the problem. You didn't address the other issues at hand. Broken equipment. Miscommunication, not able to treat patients. Your office kept rescheduling my husband and then no follow up as well! You are not able to give patients quality treatment or care! Also it took you six months to discuss the issue that's another problem! I stand by my original review! Very unhappy with your services! Plus all the money paid to you was a waste! Found another Dr that didn't agree with your initial option and have resolved the problem with him. You need to sit down and think about improving quality of services and treatment! Everyone be warned don't go see this Dr you will be sorry!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
