Ben Donovan's Online Review Report Card

I first became a patient of Dr. Ben Donovan's when I was admitted from the ER in July 2019. I was trying to pass a large kidney stone, and it became stuck in my tube. Dr. Donovan performed the surgery to break down my kidney stone and place a stint. He is friendly.

Dr. Donovan and his asst Lupita have treated us so well. He takes his time on explaining everything step by step and is very patient with my little one. I had a big family emergency come up & lupita called back within 30 min & helped out tremendously on getting my little one seen before we head out of town. Thank you.

My son's pediatrician recommend Dr. Donovan specifically. Due to my son's schedule, he could only see the doctor on Friday afternoon. Dr. Donovan has a practice much closer to where we live, but he is only at the Goodyear location on Fridays, so we drove down there. During our appointment, in walks a PA who announces she will be doing the appointment, and "If at the end we want to see Dr. Donovan, we can." But never offers to bring in the doctor just waltzes out. Now I truly don't mind seeing PA's, I've had many great ones! BUT had I known they were going to bait and switch I would have just driven to the closer location and saved the miles and time. Truly annoying and leaves me wondering if they billed our insurance company for the rate of "the doctor!" It's been 2 weeks and still haven't gotten results on his blood work.

Dr. Donovan provided amazing care for my son. He was straightforward, kind and personable. He’s a good communicator and really showed genuine care for our family. Also the procedure was taken care of skillfully and he was willing to answer my follow up after care questions super quickly. 100% would recommend Dr. Donovan.

I would not recommend Dr Donovan to anyone or his group! It was a very unpleasant experience and up to this point their charging us $$$ for services that didn’t go well due to his staff sending referral to the hospital. They sent the wrong patient information! Sent a female patient for a circumcision Instead of my son! This is HIPAA violation. Thus due to this error my son did not get his procedure on the planned day. It was a waste of effort and time. When we went for a consultation, he was in the room for 2 minutes and is charging for a 99214. He was in the room didn’t explain what is going to happen, did not talk to my son and made him feel uncomfortable. This was not right for kids! We ended up seeing a different specialist and saw the major difference with their bedside manner. Please go see someone else and not this person. Even his staff does not care about their patients. Only money!! I don’t usually write reviews but he is an exception for this bad and unpleasant experience!

This office is incompetent! Firstly, when I met with Ben Donavan regarding my infants issues, he kept referring to labs that my son had. I corrected him twice explaining my son didn't have labs to which he totally disregarded. I asked where he got the information to assume my son had labs. It came from the Banner linked portal, however, he was looking at labs from the week my son was born & staying in the NICU in October instead of looking at his hospital visit from December. I should have known then this place was a nightmare !! He said that he needed to follow-up with an imaging doctor to get a CT Scan for my then 1.5 month old. and would have his MA call me the next day for scheduling the additional imaging. I didn't hear from this office for FOUR days at which point I called them only to be told I can only leave a message. The MA called me back on the 5th day with information on getting scheduled at Banner Thunderbird. Apparently the specific doctor that Ben Donavan works with is only available on Thursdays which meant scheduling was limited - not necessarily the fault of this office - & meant my sons appointment was going to be set out 8 weeks away from my initial appointment with this office. HIGHLY ANNOYED because I don't know why my infant is having the issues he is having. I called the office back to see if he can be seen at another facility....Surprise, Surprise, I can only leave a message! The MA called me back the next day with information for two other facilities, both of which wouldn't accept my insurance so I was forced to be seen at Banner Thunderbird - again, not necessarily the fault of this office. However, I was FINALLY able to have a CT Scan done for my son on Feb. 4th & the hospital told me that my images would be forwarded in 24 hours. It is now Feb. 11th ONE WEEK LATER & I STILL have not heard from this office. Finally, I called them only to be told "I don't know if we have the images I can give the MA a message" At this rate I probably won't hear from them unless I call them again. Most definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND this office for ANY reason!! They truly have NO sense of urgency regarding the care of their patients.

My sons surgery went great. However, when setting up the post op appointment the woman I spoke to gave me misinformation on the location that the dr does post op visits at and she did not schedule the appointment we had set up so I had to make another appointment for further out. It was a hassle and there was no cause for the issue.

Dr. Ben Donovan is an "Excellent" urologist. He treated me with respect, concern, answered all of my questions and assured that I was as comfortable as possible. His entire staff displayed a high degree of professionalism. Glad that I found this Doctor! John C. Boyer. Goodyear, AZ
