Banner Children's At Desert's Online Review Report Card

If I could give less than one star I would. Last August I suffered a serious fall from 4.5 ft onto a concrete slab. My wrist was severely and very obviously broken, but I was also having pain in my left hip and difficulty bearing weight on my leg. After waiting in the ER waiting room for 2 or more hours, I was unable to walk and needed a wheelchair to get to the room. While my immediate attention was on my wrist (broken in six places with two deviating fractures in the long bones) I was told I would need surgery and would be referred to the outpatient surgery center after they set and wrapped d my wrist. It took 5 specialists to do that, so it was 5 hours until they got there. In the meantime, they took one film of my pelvis/hip. The radiologist report came back and the nurse told the Dr there was no break. The Dr did not read the report nor did she once physically examine my leg. She told me I had a deep bruise. I was sent home. One month later, after hobbling around, really only leaving my bed to use the bathroom, I sat down and heard a snap. My femur neck had been broken the whole time and since medical treatment was so delayed, I ended up needing a hip transplant. Turns out there was a simple, non invasive test called Folcum that would have shown I had a serious injury. Like I said, she did not ONCE touch my leg. DO NOT GO HERE. I WOULDN'T HAVE AN ANIMAL TREATED HERE

I gave this place two stars for one reason: The Medical staff here has been awesome here with my father. They get five stars as they are grossly overworked. The suits that run this place need a serious smack upside the head because this place is a cluster fuck. My dad should've been discharged 5 days ago but yet here he is. When we ask questions to the case managers, we either can't get ahold of one or we get bull shit answers. If you need to come here to the ER that's one thing but if you need to get admitted do not go here. Avoid Banner at all cost.

By far the worst hospital I have ever been to. The fact you can even consider this a children's hospital is a JOKE. We broke our two month old baby in last night at 9pm because she could not breathe and couldn't keep anything down. The triage nurse was great he said her oxygen levels were normal and she didn't have a fever. He said she might need some type of steroid. He said he noticed some pulling in her chest but isn't for sure. So he send us back to the waiting room. We're finally called back at 11:30pm we tell the nurse why we're there. She asks if I've been suctioning her nose at home, and I inform her that I try not to very often. As my pediatrician informed me over suctioning can make things worse. She rolls her eyes and says well you need to be. Leaves the rooms comes back a few minutes later with another nurse and informs me they're going to suction her nose since she's congested. So they do that, then she says hold her straight up for 15 minutes and the doctor will be right in. 1am approaches and still no doctor we all take a nap. I wake my husband around 2:30am since no one has came in to even check on her. It's getting ridiculous at this point. So he goes out and asks when the doctor is going to come in and the nurse informs him that he'll be starting his rounds soon. Finally around 3am he comes in looks at her tells me she's congested and to suction her nose at home. I reiterate what my pediatrician said. He tells me she was wrong. I'm baffled and appalled at this point. He spends maybe three minutes in the room. Says a nurse will be in to give her some nose drops and to suction her nose again. And leaves, and we never see him again. Another nurse comes in this one is very nice I will say! She does the nose drops, and the suction. Has me feed her two ounces of pedialyte and that was it. No one came to check on her or anything. At 4:30am a nurse came in with discharge paperwork and sent us home. They expect us to pay $1300 for doing absolutely nothing! My daughter still can't breathe and she still hasn't been able to eat. I have no idea how or why this place is allowed to treat people. And when we were leaving people that were waiting when we arrived were still waiting to be seen. This is absurd!

Patricia in the ER registration is extremely rude. Clearly she doesn’t like working overnight.Took my daughter for a possible concussion and the PA had awful bedside manner. No smile, no interaction with the actual patient (a child) and she didn’t inform me of a diagnosis or how to care for her when i left the hospital. She came in and said her test was normal, and turned around and walked right back out. No option for questions. Makes sense since she’s an adult PA and not pediatric. Probably should staff pediatric providers who care about children. Treated us as the least important people and that i shouldn’t have brought her in. (Recommended to bring her by the pediatrician) my advice, avoid this hospital. Your children will be better off anywhere else. Patient relations also disregarded the entire matter because the PA Kassondra included in her office note that she had an extensive conversation with me. (Go figure they document their note how they should to cover themselves.) not to mention my daughter was still not acting herself days later and i wasn’t informed how to care for her at home. What a nightmare. If this is your only option, hopefully you don’t have to go at night when the staff hates their job and doesn’t care about patients.

So I went into banner desert with 10 out of 10 chest pain. They did a heart catherization and said they can't repair my many blockages. Dr fraz sucks so bad he couldn't make any suggestions for further treatment. This is the worst hospital in Arizona. My night time nurse who never told me her name sucks I aske to see the charge nurse so I could get a new nurse and she never came to my room I don't know her name. Desmond the tech sucked as well he answered my call light and never passed on what I asked for which was pain medication. Mesa fire needs to change there attitude and they insist on taking me to this shitty hospital. When they are supposed to take me where I want to go but they refuse. I wander if I should hire a lawyer. When I came in they never asked me what meds I was on so I never got my Prozac for my depression omeprazole for my gurd or ambian so I can sleep. I asked the nurse last night to call the doctor to get me my ambian but she never did and I didn't get it tonight Feb 20 Sunday.

My daughter had surgery here and the staff at this hospital made the process so smooth and easy for my 4 yr old. They got down on her level and explained everything in a fun Ugandan understandable way for her. They also made sure I was comfortable the whole time. It was nice to have such good care in a time when your biggest worry is your child.Thank you to everyone !Jen the child health specialist was fantastic as well as all the nurses on floor 7!❤️

THANK YOU! After losing my first son over at Phoenix Children's, I get terrified to go to the ER when my babies get sick. We transferred over to Banner from Mercy Gilbert after waiting 10 hours in their ER. My son was sick and struggling to breathe. I was very scared, hadn't eaten all day, and very hesitant to take him to a new hospital. The admitting nurses had odd bedside manner and gave me strange looks when I started crying over my baby struggling to breathe. The doctor was amazing though and very reassuring. We ended up transferring to PICU and there was a pretty night and day difference. The nurses were so kind and attentive. I'd like to mention one nurse in particular Jelena who is an absolute angel. She was confident in caring for my child and also made sure I took care of MYSELF by making me eat so I could pump breastmilk while he couldn't feed. I thank her so much for her care. All of the nurses were incredible and I wish I remembered everyone's names. Thank you for nursing my son back to health. And the respiratory therapists for their insight. You have no idea how grateful I am. I will return here with my children if I ever need to in the future.

Waiting so long and seeing more sick babies coming in. Just for adults to be getting called back before babies that have been waiting long before them. Now I understand the 3 stars on this hospital. If we hadn’t already been waiting so long, we would’ve left.

Nose mouth neck and legs as well as waiting a whole day to inform the family that he has an infection (bacteria) infection in his mouth and throat where his ventilator tubs were located ? She had been there all day before he had passed away that night
