Excellent Dr. Compassionate, and quite literally my life saver.i was faced with pretty horrible and dark news. I don't blame other doctors. Patients need to understand they don't mean to seem cold. That said, Id met with many dr.'s..most seemed very cold. Dr. Alyx was warm and caring. I'll forever be thankful for that. Shes long since moved. I would still run up and hug her to this day. Thanks Dr.🙂
Dr. Porter can take a very scary diagnosis and break it down so you understand. She strives for answers and really listens to her patients.
If you go to Dr. Porter, as I did, for a diagnosed brain tumor, with symptoms she will tell you “it’s something else.” She told me that the brain tumor was too small to be causing my symptoms of nausea, fatigue, balance issues, headaches etc,. Her treatment plan was the “wait and re-test, (MRI)” in 6 months!!!!! Perhaps it will grow enough in order to meet her criteria for referring me to a Neurosurgeon for treatment. While waiting for the Tumor to become more destructive to my daily life, she ordered an EEG and a Cognitive test. Yes, let’s look for an illness that would be more financially beneficial to her practice and keep me coming back to her. She thinks she is very slick, deceiving and able to minipulate patients into doing what she says. Lesson learned, if you have been diagnosed with a brain tumor go directly to a Neurosurgeon. I’m running not walking to Barrow’s Neurological Institute to get a qualified opinion about what I already have and not waste my precious life on allowing Dr. Porter to order unnecessary test in order to build her financial portfolio. Mayo Clinic PHX, you need to look into this doctor’s operational practice.
Dr. Alyx Porter is the Worst doctor we have ever gone to!!! In 2009 my husband was diagnosed with GBM and she told us it was inoperable and our only option was standard of care, which was Temodar. We had lots of other mishaps with her and her staff but the worst thing she did was to tell us "DON'T EVER LET ANY DOCTOR TELL YOU DIFFERENTLY, HIS CONDITION IS INOPERABLE" She totally discouraged us to get a second opinion but THANK GOD we did and my husband had surgery and lived a little more than 2 years. If we had listened to her, he would probably not have lived 3 months. If there is anything I want you to take from this it is, ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION!!! GBM is terminal but it doesn't have to be a short journey. My husband had 2 good quality years with us. She has no right to take that away from any one, so please, please get a second opinion!!!!! As for this doctor, I have lots of terrible, bad things to say about her but will constrain and just say RUN as fast as you can to another doctor and get a second opinion. It saved my husbands life and gave us 2 more years with him that my kids and I treasure and so did he! God Bless you on this journey.
Dr Porter is great. She took over my care and things are looking better and better every day. I am completely happy with dr porters work. Her book offers great insight into the challenges you may face and has been a great help for me and my family

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
