List of Areena Swarup's Reviews
Dr Swarup is kind, caring, and understanding of my journey having Rheumatoid Arthritis. She maintains this empathetic perspective while quickly processing the history and physical along with complex labs, data, and standards. I am so grateful to her for all of her hard work.
All the reviews are true.. I didn't read them because I was in so much pain and distress that I was desperate and uneducated about rheumatogists in general and how inept the majority of them are. This doctor and her staff top the list and its astounding how incompetent they are.. you will waste precious time and energy and will be treated like trash.. don't stop keep searching.. only gave 1 star because I couldn't give 0.
Just a warning to everyone out there: As a new patient, If you switch appointment times or cancel (moving up appointment times counts as a cancellation) 3 times, even if it’s within the standard 24-hour time frame, they will not allow you to see any providers in their practice (I moved 2 of my appointment times well in advance of my scheduled date). Because of this policy, I’m essentially banned from Arizona Arthritis for life. This group of providers is only concerned about one thing: The almighty dollar $$$. I suppose a few key parts of the physician's Hippocratic oath don't apply to me, nor does the physician that made the decision to ban me, uphold these: I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure; May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.
very disappointed. Should have believed the reviews. first visit was fine, not good, just fine. I have autoimmune disease and needed a rheumatologist so I stuck around. It has been terrible experience. Finally switched and have a real doc. She is a fake. Lazy, heartless and careless. Should not be in-charge of taking care of human beings or rather any living being!
New in town. Have RA and other medical issues Saw her because there is such a shortage of Rheumatologists and you just can’t get in with any easily. Worst physician that I have ever seen. Very confident but not knowledgeable at all.One felt unsafe around her. Not going back .
She will not listen to you. Very arrogant. Not knowledgeable. I've had to get second opinions every time I got a "you don't have that" from her. Well, apparently I did and she was wrong. She dismisses your symptoms and the second she decides "you don't have that" there's no further discussion or follow up. She also does not follow the published diagnostic criteria for illnesses. Very frustrating because it makes it impossible to get the treatment you need from her and causes you to wait for a second opinion. Also, the receptionist is nasty. Told me multiple lies today. I needed an emergency appointment so I went straight to the office and she told me, "we aren't seeing patient's in person" WITH PEOPLE WAITING IN THE WAITING ROOM. So, I said "so then why are these people here?" And she rolled her eyes and said, "let me see if I can squeeze you in." Every time you call to make an appointment they do not answer the phone. You end up on hold for 30 minutes and then directed to their voicemail. I ended up being on hold for one hour today (called twice) which was when I decided to just go into the office. My grandmother has also seen Dr. Swarup and was not impressed at all. Dr. Swarup refused to prescribe any arthritis medication despite OBVIOUS signs of arthritis. She would only prescribe physical therapy (not even water PT - easier on the joints). My grandmother left very frustrated and still in pain. Run as far as you can from this practice.
I am very unhappy with this doctor. I have given it quite awhile to see if the care would get better. I just have the feeling that they are not caring. In the past if I've seen a doctor a year or two you develop some closeness. That's never happened!
Arrogant, Zero knowledge, Zero bedside manners, Zero skills. Only interested in making money. Selfish person with evil eyes, does not care for her patients and I am not the only one who thinks so.
Dr Swarup and Amanda are truly gifted and gr8 with me!!!!
I am a recent transplant from another state and my primary doctor here recommended I see an arthritis specialist / r,heumatologist here about my already diagnosed back arthritis and fibromyalgia. Dr Swarup's staff treated me well, prescribed a medication that reduced my pain by at least 40%, and suggested additional options. On the first visit, I got the impression they thought I was a drug seeker, but as soon as they understood I had not been taking medications for my conditions (which had been diagnosed in 2014 & 2016 respectively) they were all in in an attempt to make my life better! All I want in a physician is for them to listen and really hear what I am saying. THEY DID THAT! They suggested additional treatments, such as shots etc, but I said no thanks for the time being, and they respected that. If you are a drug seeker, you are not going to have much luck with this crew, but if you have legitimate issues, they are going to be all in with you!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
