Fabulous view from the 11th floor. Nice facility. Easy parking in the garage next door. Clean facilities and very nice staff. Lots of communication prior to appointment.
Dr. Brad Nuttall is awesome! He took care of my husband and I with care, professionalism and most importantly our exam for new glasses was a blessing! We greatly appreciate Dr. Nuttall and his wonderful personality and knowledge of making it easier to see. Many kudos to Rita Chun, our Optician since 2022. She is the epitome of being patient-focused and goes the extra mile to ensure your needs are met when purchasing glasses. She is the best and we deeply appreciate Rita. Both Dr. Nuttall and Rita are beautiful people because you feel they care about your needs and provide exceptional services. I am immunosuppressed and both of them immediately wore masks to ensure our safety and health without any issues, and it was a blessing. Again, many thanks to Rita and Dr. Nuttall for their caring, professional, and excellent services that stand on its own merits. Amities, Jarita & Tony
I have been a professional cameraman and photographer for over forty years...when my optometrist told me I should consider cataract surgery I asked for her recommendation and this is where she sent me...I did a lot of research online before my initial consultation, so I was familiar with the surgery and my options for corrective vision lenses...my experience with Horizon has been nothing short of excellent...I had contact with five different staff and two doctors during my series of visits...all were friendly, professional and made me feel I had made the correct choice...it was not easy as a photographer to let someone operate on my eyes but Dr. Cason did an excellent job and the results are amazing.
I had cataract surgery with Dr. Angela Kovacik. This was my 2nd cataract surgery. The first surgery was performed by a different doctor and facility. Dr. Kovacik and her staff are wonderful. They calmed my fears and gave me all of the information that I needed to have a successful surgery. On the day of the surgery, I was given anesthesia at the beginning of the surgery. I was made comfortable and the whole experience was easy. The recovery and results are amazing! The morning after the surgery, I took off the eye shield and could see very well. It has been 4 days since the surgery and every day my vision is better. I am so happy with Dr. Kovacik. It was a night and day experience compared to my first surgery with Dr. Jay Swartz. That procedure was in 2019. On the day of the procedure, Dr. Swartz assistant took me into a room. She was confused about the type of lens that I was to receive. She sat me in a chair where, without any anesthesia, a laser was used and broke up my natural lens. Then, the assistant walked me into another room where I was finally given anesthesia. I was blind and completely terrified during the time from the laser room until the anesthesia was administered. During the procedure, I remember hearing a Doctor say something didn't go well. He had to do something else. When I went for my follow up appointments, I could not see well. Everything was very blurry. The assistants at the follow ups couldn't understand why I couldn't see better. They would read my chart and get quiet. Then, they would bring a doctor in. The doctor would perform a few tests and then say, "it is going to take some time to get better." No one ever told me what went wrong, or even admit that something was wrong. They covered it up. It took 2 years before I began to see better. During that time, I ended up needing a Vitrectomy. The retina specialist that Dr. Swartz referred me to, requested my medical records. I requested my medical records as well. We each asked multiple times. Dr. Swartz office never sent the records. This was a horrible experience. I didn't every want to have another cataract surgery because I was scared that it would be a similar experience. With Dr. Kovacik it was not a bad experience. I was not terrified. My vision was great from the very next day. I would avoid Dr. Jay Swartz at all costs! If you need cataract surgery, use Dr. Kovacik and Horizon Eye Specialists!! They are amazing!!
I recently had cataract surgery at Horizon Eye Specialists and it was one of the worst decisions I've ever made. I've worn glasses most of my life and was very excited at the prospect of finally having good vision without the need for glasses. Consequently, upon discussion with Dr. Duncan, I was persuaded to have the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens implanted, which (supposedly) is indicated for those with high astigmatism--to the tune of $10,000 out of pocket! Dr. Duncan assured me that was the best way to go for my particular visual problems, informing me that the results may not be 20/20 but would certainly be close to that. At no time prior to the procedure did he--or any of the staff--tell me that this type of procedure/lens requires one eye set for distance and the other eye set for closeup. Had I known that, I would have NEVER agreed to that since I've tried this approach, known as "monovision," several times with contact lenses and never could adjust to them. I found out that this is what was done only AFTER the procedure and totally by accident from one of the follow-up optometrists. Needless to say, I freaked out. I am now left with the option of again getting progressive glasses to bring both my eyes to equal 20/20 visual acuity or basically seeing out of only one eye at a time. As if all that isn't bad enough, throughout the many visits allotted I was seen by a different person nearly every time. I felt like I was in a revolving door, further complicated by my having to retell my issues to each practitioner and each of them explaining things differently to me from the person(s) I'd seen previously. A little uniformity in verbiage would have been very helpful. Toward the end, I saw mostly Dr. Lee, who also performed the lockin treatment, making the prescription permanent. This was a particularly unpleasant experience of a bright light shined onto the cornea for several minutes. I was literally blinded immediately afterwards and could not tolerate any light whatsoever. Nevertheless, I was quickly rushed out of the treatment room and urged to be on my way. On my final visit to the center, Dr. Lee asked me how my vision was doing; I told her it was awful and I wish I'd never had any of this done. Her response: "Oh, that's too bad."
Dr.Smith and his assistants were fabulous! Took all kinds of tests and were very accommodating Only issue I encountered was my appointment time. They had my appointment at one time ( incorrectly) and I had a different time. After a half hour and watching people go before me I complained. They took me right away. So check and repeat your appointment time and the address since they have a few. I will continue to use Horizon for my yearly eye care.
First of all, my wife can see so much better... Thank you Dr. Duncan. Our issue is with their surgery center and billing. We submitted all the insurance paperwork with them and they got everything approved. Horizon gave us a total price of just under 10k for the lasik and lenses out of pocket. We took just under 2k per eye to the Horizon surgery center on the day of each procedure and paid the rest to Horizon at their main office. Lo and behold we just received a bill from them for just over $1700. This extra money was never discussed or mentioned. I called to see why we owed this money and was told by Charlene that this is what our insurance came back with. As I explained to her, we we were told an amount based on what Horizon had come back to us with after THEY had it approved with our insurance. Needless to say, we will be paying the extra amount. I did ask Charlene if we could obtain some sort of discount since this extra charge was was very unexpected. She emphatically said NO... Bottom line, beware of unexpected charges from Horizon
Have been going here for years. I am "out of pocket" and have been very happy with their eye exams. Their price for eyeglasses is a bit more than Costco, but they really stand behind their product. Any adjustments you need are covered literally forever. They also allowed me to reuse my old titanium frame, saving me about $200. HINT: If you can find a great frame at Goodwill, they can put YOUR lenses into the used frame if it is entirely intact.
I've been getting my eyes examined at Horizon for several years with great success. I liked the eyeglasses I purchased there. I am now working with the staff to prepare for cataract surgery. I have confidence in Horizon that the procedure will go well. Thanks
I am actually excited to write a review for Horizon Eye specialists based on my experience I just had with Cataract removal and getting a multi lease inserted. From the minute I visited the office I was greeted by reception who was incredibly kind and helpful. I went through a series of eye exams and then met with DR Duncan who spent about 20 minutes with me answering questions and assuring me of the procedure and the process. (I had been scheduled with Dr Vanburan to do my eyes and he spent 2 minutes with me and I did not feel he was present and saw me as a patient but more like a number.) After my meeting with Dr Duncan I was greeted by the office manager David who walked me through my schedule and finance options and was very patient and kind, repeating himself for me to make sure I understood all the information comping at me. The day of surgery I walked in and was greeted by the front reception and they took my temperature and asked me Covid related questions which I appreciated. They were efficient and helpful and the process moved very quickly. WEAR A SWEATER as it is cold in there Once in the surgery waiting area I was greeted by so many nice nurses and anesthesiologist who put drops in my eyes, helped me lay down and get and get comfortable and put an IV in my arm. I was asked several times several of the same questions by several different people reassuring and cross checking my name, date of birth, why I was there, who is picking me up, if I had anything to eat or drink.... Dr Duncan came in and said hello and checked in with me which really meant a lot. (it is nerve racking going into any surgery but eye surgery was a big deal for me) I was given a warm blanket and several times nurses would come by and squeeze my hand or knee and ask me how I am doing. Because they put so many drops in your eye and you have a patch on the other one they constantly would walk you through what they were doing and reassuring that I was doing great and I was ok. The anesthesiologist ROCKed! The surgery was a breeze and they brought me back into recovery and just kept walking me through the steps and reassuring me. I had my post op appointment set for the next day so I did not have to think about anything. Dr Duncan and his surgery team and office team have customer service nailed down! I am greatful for all they did to make me feel safe, secure and in good hands. I highly recommend Horizon Eye and their Doctors.
