Julie Jacobs's Online Review Report Card

My impression after meeting with Dr. Jacobs was that I would be having a very simple procedure - like bandaid and you are on your way type procedure. I ended up being unable to do physical activity for nearly a month, and when I came in for my surgery appt staff asked if I was aware I needed to put down a $200 deposit. This wasn't a big deal for me - but I can't see that being welcome by all. I couldn't get any information about how much my surgery would cost, nor could I get much information ahead of time aside from an indication this wouldn't be the no issue procedure I expected from my previous discussion with her (thanks to the front desk for the hints to this). And seriously - if I need to avoid dental procedures 2 weeks prior, and cinnamon, turmeric, vitamin E, and many others! for more than 48 hours prior - someone should tell me instead of me happening on this information after a random call to the front desk! After surgery, my concerns were realized, and the front desk's advice rang true - then they really give you no information on what to do or how you should proceed! While I didn't have any major drawbacks - I did have to cancel a ton of events post surgery due to not knowing what I was in for, and certainly sought 2nd opinions being as I really didn't have much information to go on from them. I did get a bit of attitude when I asked follow up questions about my symptoms and got responses like "well, like I told you before", when no-actually, you didn't, or - they gave a response that has nothing to do with my current question type thing. I think if you are an industry insider this practice is fine, and sadly I think this treatment is very customary with American style healthcare, but for the average consumer you need to know on your own what you are getting into before comfortably receiving care here.

The follow up I expected from our appointment was so vastly different than what took place I am astounded. I was never told I would be out for weeks (nearly a month of no exercise with a 2 week minimum!), I was never told about any pre procedure items I needed to follow (limited foods, no procedures, etc), the office specifically told me they could provide NO cost estimate for my procedure (they never returned my calls-I had to track them down), and there was such attitude from her assistant about questions I had. I get they do this day in and day out - but it would have been nice to know ahead of time that I wouldn't be able to do public events for weeks post surgery (cancelling things like this is SO difficult!) and that I wouldn't be able to engage in basically ANY activity! Just a really frustrating experience all around with the lack of communication on so many fronts.

The communication is horrendous - I was thinking I would be having a pinprick type procedure yet I had multiple stitches and was out for a month. I was never told about any post surgery precautions to avoid (dental work, a ton of foods, etc) nor was I told that I would need to be inactive for weeks after surgery! Plus - their office never communicated about a down payment required - which I think should also be something mentioned. When I had post procedure questions I got some defensive responses too. I never received a call back from the numerous calls I made trying to find out about costs before my surgery - and when I finally tracked someone down I was literally told they had no idea how much I would be charged and could not even give me an estimate. Thankfully - the front desk was there and actually were the most helpful!! If you are looking for good communication, I can't say you will find it at this practice. Now knowing what I do about the procedure, I also question why it was done the way it was. Not a great feeling to add to the lack of information throughout.

Dr. Jacobs is very knowledgeable and personable. I am sad to hear she is no longer at Epiphany Dermatology.

I am very thankful for having been seen and treated by Dr. Julie Jacobs. I had a skin condition that was causing me a lot of embarrassment and distress. Not only did she listen to all of my concerns, but she quickly figured out my unusual skin condition and lead me to the correct treatment. She is very personable, compassionate, and above all extremely sharp. She is all around a great doctor! Thank you Dr. Jacobs!

Dr. Julie Jacobs is a great Dermatologist. She helped give me my life back!

I do not know who is writing these 1-star reviews, but I and several of my friends and family who also go to Dr. Julie Jacobs completely do not agree with them. She is sharp, personable, compassionate, and listens to my concerns. She knows her specialty very well. She is just the kind of doctor that anyone would be lucky to have for their dermatologic problems.

I recommend all my friends to see Dr. Jacobs. She is a great dermatologist.
