List of Scott Hillmann's Reviews
Dr. Hillmann performed emergency appendectomy on me at Honor Health Deer Valley 2/2021. He was very good. Because of COVID restrictions I was in the hospital alone. He was patient while I got my husband on the phone to listen two of the three times he met with me. He met with me shortly after the diagnosis while still in the ER to explain the circumstances and again right before the surgery, and once again the day after the surgery. He was very personable and had a great bedside manner in explaining what I didn't understand. The laparoscopic entry wounds have healed very nicely and I get the staples removed tomorrow. I was able to schedule the post op follow up appointment easily. I am grateful that he was available to perform the surgery.
I had been bitten by something and it immediately was infected. Dr. Hillman removed all the infected tissue and I am recovering nicely.
I am still dealing with the after effects of his "care". Insurance forced me to go to him, do not bother. His disgusting disregard for his patients is something no one suffering from any illness should have to endure.
Unlike some of the other reviews I have read, my my husband and I had a very pleasant experience with Dr. Hillman. My husband was sure that he was going to have to have surgery on a hernia and at age 85 would have been high risk. When Dr. Hillman examined him, it turned out it was not a hernia at all, but a stretched muscle with a name I cannot remember. He was totally up front with him, explaining what it was and that he did NOT need surgery and in fact stressed not to let anyone tell him he needed surgery. Of course, we were relieved when we heard this. Thank you to Dr. Hillman for making our day.
Consistent with prior posts, he likes to cut and do surgery. I had a hernia (I think, but am in more discomfort now 6 months afterward than I was when I had the hernia). He gave me the option to have surgery or do nothing. I elected surgery. He offered no pros or cons of traditional versus laparoscopic and went right to traditional, which is his preference I learned afterward. Granted, I should have done more research and asked more questions, but did not. I thought, it's a hernia, very common, very simple... (my bad). Anyway, he did the surgery and I don't know what all was done, he didn't offer anything in the follow-up. He didn't even feel anything, just looked at it, even after I asked about concerns. For example, my incision was poorly stitched and I had drainage for weeks, even got a minor infection and ended up going in for several follow-ups, but with a different doctor. The follow-up doctor seemed to care and actually was quite good. Bottom line, he likes to cut and do surgery. I don't know that he is very good. I do know that his follow-up and lack of offering options and walking you through what all is involved prior to the surgery is terrible. Currently, I have an ugly scar and discomfort in the groin, testicular area. I also have little trust in doctors now. Get a 2nd opinion and I would defer to the laparoscopic route based on my experience and after the fact research. Do your research upfront. There are a lot of forums regarding recovery time and what to expect.
Dr Hillman was very nice when I first went to him for a consultation he performed by surgery after my surgery I would schedule a follow-up he was so rude. The staff is awesome the office is clean.
Dr. Hillmann has been dismissive and uninterested in my concerns and complaints before and after my surgeries. He has consistently ignored my medical history and pass issues, all while talking down to me. He is unwilling to listen and doesn’t treat his patients as individuals. I did not have a choice in dealing with him and highly recommend finding a doctor that will treat you as a person.
The worst surgeon I have ever had the misfortune of meeting, and though he claims to be a vascular surgeon he IS NOT! He does some cases that involve the vasculature, but he never completed a vascular surgery residency, nor is he board certified in vascular surgery.
My neighbor required hernia repair surgery and was referred to Dr. Hillmann. He asked me to post this review for him. He said the staff was professional, friendly and efficient. Dr. Hillmann performed the necessary surgery on October 12. Surgery was a breeze. Dr. Hillmann carefully explained the procedure beforehand and followed up post-surgery with physical examination of the area. Allan Kelly said he has never been more impressed by a physician and entire staff. Could not speak higher of him. Recommend Dr. Hillmann to anyone in need of a great surgeon.
Dr Hillmann is the best Vascular Surgeon in Phoenix! I have the upmost respect & faith in his medical decisions regarding my care. I strongly recommend him!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
