My brother was a patient at Select Specialty Hospital in Phoenix. I was so impressed with the Specialty Hospital. Everyone I came into contact with was wonderful. “I was truly impressed with your nice facility and the caring staff and friendly can do attitude and smiles. It was good to be treated with professionalism and care. In the week that I was there, the doctors and the nurses were able to wean my brother off the ventilator that he was on since the accident. It was truly a blessing to see my brother breathing on his own again. I will always be truly grateful and thankful for Hospital and wonderful staff at Select Specialty! Thank you, Ronnie Barfield
I was very impressed with the staff and the care that is being provided to my friend who had a stroke on April 13th at the age of 47. For the first time I am feeling optimistic about his future. I will be visiting a lot. Thank you.
My boyfriend was here for a little over a week after coming from the trauma ICU in a different hospital. The nurses and the doctors were diligent and helpful. Because of them he made major improvements in leaps and bounds! I would definitely recommend this hospital to anyone.
My mother was brought to Select Specialty Hospital after suffering a stroke during surgery. This facility has been wonderful to her. Dr. Buckner comes in and listens to our concerns and addresses them where we understood. Dr. Kenny is a teddy bear whose caring shines every time he walks in the room. The knowledge of these two physicians is impeccable. I want to thank the OT/PT staff of Adam, Courtney, Jennifer and Amanda for their constant vigil of getting my mom up and going, the RT staff of Wayne, Mike, Dan, Val, Trisha for the ever suctioning and care, the CNA staff including Jeremy, Sunday, Barton, Sherry, Amalia for tending so gently to her needs and last but not least to the RN's including Erin, Cindy, Priscilla, Christina and Leandra for their continual care. You all are so wonderful and thank you for all you do. Kathy Muller
It's hard to summarize my admiration for the attending staff at Select, from doctors to nurses to assistants. I was transferred into Select after 6 weeks in ICU and a questionable life expectancy. Heavily medicated, they work diligently to bring me out of the grips of sedation. That was not always easy , as I was combative on my trip out of the medication grips. On Thanksgiving day, I finally woke after one month in the Select hospital, I was only then did I realize the 24/7 care and compassion of the staff attending me. At one point I has one of the nurses in a head lock. Instead of giving up on me, she became a best fried. Along with a lot of prayers, I will always regard this staff as saving my life. While there are so many staff who helped, one notable angel call Maxine (Chocolate coffee) performed in a manner of care and compassion that was beyond anything I ever experienced. Also a special thanks to the hospitalist Zak Aslamy MD for getting my mind right. Thank you all for you help.
Took really good care of my father. Great staff.
Fue una experiencia muy agradable Todo un buen servicio personal muy amable
Very good place to be if needed they saved my life thank you to all the staff I appreciate you guys
Committed nurses like James, Rachel and Ozwin; CNAs Jay and Leslie and PT/OT therapists Courtney and Adam, really make all of the difference. That said, St. Joe's (Select leases the third floor in the main building) is very old which translated means, dark with Fluorescent lights and loud. FYI- all of the acute care hospitals in the east valley that I checked out were the same. There was construction going on night and day (not constantly all day and all night, but after midnight a few days). You park in the St Joe parking garage (get validation) and walk over. One very large note - no matter where your loved one transfers from/to: DO NOT listen to the hospital when they tell you that the medication transfer will be seamless. Walk through it before you leave and discuss with intake. In our case, the hospital sent over a list which included medications that were discontinued because of adverse reactions. I see some reviews that complain about call button response time. In our experience, the nurses and CNAs worked very hard and were as responsive as they can be, but the ratios that insurance will pay for at this level of care do not allow for consistent, immediate response, especially since we want the nurses to stop and listen to our concerns and not always have a foot half way out the door. I felt response was very good, but these are stressful times and sometimes that feels like not good enough. As such, I would highly recommend that, at any facility you choose, have as much family support as your situation allows to assist. Overall, I would recommend Select and pray that you make the right decision for your family.
My husband was in a medically induced coma for 11 days. After ICU at a different hospital, we were transferred to Select Specialty Hospital on Thomas Rd in Phoenix. With the exception of One nurse the professionals were fantastic.. The rest of the staff deserves a 5 Star rating . * * * * *... They were/are amazing. The Nurses and nursing assistants... Made us laugh and kept us informed at a very Surreal, Scarry season in my husband's life... PT and OT was our favorite time of day. They were FANTASTIC, knowledgeable, concerned and caring they made his hard work (recovery) fun! RT... Super.. efficient The facility is old but clean. Unfortunately the stock room door slammed every time anyone went in or out.. Of course it was immediately across from my husband's room... All night long.. The Bedside commode was a special treat too. We actually have some rather humorous stories about that commode... Don't ask... All in all. A great big THANK YOU to the staff and care givers at Select Specialties Hospital

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
