We adore Dr. Hug! He has taken care of my non-verbal child since she was 2 and were so sad when he left the KC area. He was gentle with her and she responded better to him than anyone else we have tried. He was able to engage her and get accurate readings when others couldn't. New to the valley, very poor experience. Rushed, incomplete, not thorough, overpriced - not impressed. Waste of our time and money. Will seek other opinion/provider. Affiliated with several networks and was referred in via Phoenix Children's Hospital Optometry. Visited satellite (feeder) office in north scottsdale. No patients in the waiting room, and despite almost empty office, refused to allow both parents to be present for the exam. Compromised. y by allowing a cell phone/speaker to tell the other parent that the child with a severe amblyopia and tertiary diagnoses (complexities) would not benefit from any treatments, rather should just continue to wear glasses. Was unaware and unable to speak to the efficacy or benefits of vision therapy, and/or other options to improve the child's vision and strength of his eyes. Parents beware. This guy may be decent for prescribing glasses, but is not experienced in complex vision disorders.

Now practicing in Phoenix Metro area. First and last visit. Poor provider, incomplete, not thorough, overpriced, missed the diagnosis and and sent us out the door with a $309 bill and a recommendation for a child with a complex amblyopia to just keep wearing glasses.
