Waited 4 mos. to get into Mayo's Dr. Shen -cardiologist. Nightmare experience- Dr. Shen represented himself as a 'cardiac EP' & not Dept. Chair of Cardiology. Was scheduled to see "Shen&team" - practically turned out to be "Shen&Shen" Dr. Shen demonstrated he HAD NOT READ MY Medical History - during the visit by making glaring medically related errors. Dr. Shen's was bored, angry, arrogant & ill informed of my cardiac&medical issues. Worst bedside manner I have seen in any M.D. in decades. He provided no help or insight - His written Office visit summary is 60-70% fiction. In it he affirmed he had READ most of my medical history? Have demanded he re-write it under HIPPA& is is materially WRONG on many medical major issues. In his written Office visit he dedicates several sentences to listening to my heart & lungs. Am 90% certain, he did not bother(a friend was with me & she is 100% certain). He verbally assaulted me for no legit. cause(for my correcting his incorrect med. history - have J.D.&Ph.d in bio-sciences). I left depressed & felt like I had just been mugged. I have a pacemaker which I have spent considerable time trying to understand what it records. My reg. cardiologist has a pacemaker nurse, who a month before this nightmare finally thoroughly explained it to me. Mayo did a 5 min Pacemaker check performed by a very young R.N.(?) who IMO needs to training. She contradicted virtually everything I KNEW ABOUT DEVICE(BASED ON PRINTOUTS/GRAPHS) Am filing a formal complaint against Dr. Shen. Cardiology Unit of Mayo was virtually empty & suspect others know of the rotten quality of care provided. PLEASE RECONSIDER SEEING any cardiologist at Mayo. IF they are leaders in cardio care we are in big trouble

Dr, Shen is an excellent communicator. He explains the patient's condition in significant detail. He listens to the patient. He makes the patient comfortable in the examination room. He does not seem rushed or ready to get on to his next appointment. This is the best cardiology appointment I have ever experienced. His Mayo Fellow also is a bright, up-and-coming physician. This was a highly positive experience for this patient.

Dr. Shen was the most kind, sincere, caring physician I have known. He and his team took alot of time and explained every detail step by step to the family re our mothers heart conditions and what approaches he recommended for her. He really cares about his pts. time is not of the essence.His best interest is his patients.He kept us well informed every step of the way.He found the problem and wasted no time finding a solution. He made mother feel comfortable and secure during her stay at Mayo.I recommend Dr. Shen highly.
