Marilyn Mehlmauer's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Mehlmauer retired in August 2020, and this practice is now part of the California Skin Institute. Two new physicians are now seeing her patients at this location. I recently saw one of them, Dr. Nguyen, who spent a long time answering all of my questions, which I really appreciated. While Dr. Mehlmauer will be missed, I am pleased with the services I have continued to receive at this office.

Update on my review of 4/5/2019(I can't figure out how to go back into a post to update it.)Dr Mehlmauer has retired. She was an awesome doc and I wish her well in her retirement. The office number is still the same, and I believe Annie is still working there, but the practice is now a part of California Skin Institute, which is a large operation with many locations.

5 Stars for Dr. Mehlmaur. She is the best dermatologist I have seen (out of 3 over many years). She caught a pre-cancerous condition that the others would have missed. BUT - 2 stars for her nursing staff. I am a Medicare patient, and I know that means she doesn't get paid well, and that Medicare allows 15 minutes for an exam. However, her nursing staff makes me feel like they believe I am wasting Dr Mehlmaur's precious time. Out of 4 visits to this office, twice they have pulled the doctor out of my room and rushed her off to other patients. They are not outwardly rude, but they always treat me as if they are rushed for time, and their body language says "Don't waste the doctor's or my valuable time. You're just a Medicare patient, get going so I can take care of the 'important' patients." I will keep going back, in spite of this because the care of Dr. Mehlmaur is worth the snubbing by her staff.

I've seen Dr. Mehlmauer and Dr. Zohrabian at Congress Cosmetic. Both doctors are wonderful; they methodically explain diagnosis details and treatment options, and are gentle when it comes to excisions. I've visited enough times that I know the staff, all of whom I've been satisfied with. I expect to remain a happy patient and loyal customer here!You will probably have to wait a month or more for non-urgent appointments, but the results are worth it. Sometimes they can squeeze you in sooner if you're an established patient.Thank you, Dr. M!Note: Dr. Z now has her own practice elsewhere.

I treat myself every so often to a facial,  and I truly enjoy the results and leave it to the professionals. Annie is the best esthetician at Congress Cosmetic. Annie has amazing knowledge and a great personality. She uses High tech skin treatments, includingCleansing Extractions Microdermabrasion Micro current andDermaplaine are all enormous benefits to the health and wellness of your skin both in the short and long term. I look forward to my next appointment and experience! I highly recommend this office for Skin care .

Ok, I want to clarify that I am giving 2 stars because the doctor is really nice and she actually made my perioral dermatitis go away in a matter of 1 month. The reason why i am giving 2 stars only is because I payed $125 for my first visit ( she prescribed me with antibiotics and a cream) so I thought it was a fair price. But I came back for a follow up which literally lasted 5 mins ( she just wanted to check how my allergies were doing (they have been gone for a month now) ) and she just told me my skin was good now and that was it . 5 mins. And they charged me again with $125 for a freaking 5 min follow up. If you have insurance, good for you but if you don't just don't go for a follow up unless you have money to waste. The worst part of it is that i called like a week before my appointment and asked if i had to pay the full amount again for the follow up and the receptionist told me that it depended if she prescribed me something ( and she didn't). I still had to pay the full amount. So be careful if you are on a budget.

Dr. Marilyn Mehlmauer was great. She was very knowledgeable, and addressed all of my concerns.  Annie and the rest of the staff were superb.

My appointment was for a full-body check for skin cancer. Two members of my family have had melanoma. The doctor gave a quick, cursory look, missing most of my body, my scalp, etc, while simultaneously upselling me on cosmetic procedures that can be done in the office. I still need the full-body check and will have to pay for one soon, all over again.

De may be funny and casual. but her receptionist and nurses are snobs! Made me feel uncomfortable.
